"WOW, that was probably the best food I've eaten in a long time." Tori exclaims, stretching as she settles into a food coma. The room falls into a small awkward silence when suddenly Bob and Wade decide to head out.
They say their goodbyes, leaving the four of us here surrounded by half eaten cake.
My phone buzzes in my bra. I whip it out and notice it's Tori.
T: I'm going to Jack's room tonight, BOUTTA GET SOME DICK BITCH. Word of advice: invite. Mark. over.
I reply.
M: you're so lucky I love you.
I put my phone away as Jack stands up.
"Alright I think Tori and I are gonna go explore the town for a bit if that's alright with you all? Don't worry Michaela, I'll bring her home safe." He winks at me. And I know damn well she's not coming home, but I play along.
They depart. As soon as they leave the room I turn to Mark. "So, how about we get scared shitless and finish this cake off?" He chuckles.
"Sounds amazing."
We find ourselves in the hotel room. I scan Netflix while Mark gets some wine for the both of us. We settle on a scary looking foreign movie and begin our watch.
I slip a piece of cake into my mouth and let it melt. I close my eyes and enjoy the sweetness of the cookies and cream flavor. When I open them, I can tell Mark is giving me a weird look. "What, can't a girl enjoy her cheesecake without any judgement?" He let's out a breath of laughter.
"Sorry, sorry.... it's just hard to keep my eyes off of you..." He says the last part quietly, almost too quiet for me to hear. I pretend I didn't. My cheeks are so red, and I can feel my heart in my chest.
"What did you-" as I turn my head to ask if I heard him correctly, a pair of lips meet mine instantly. My eyes widen. I am still. Mark pulls away and the remote falls, pausing the movie. Silence overcomes us.
"Kale I'm- I'm sorry. I don't know why I-" I kiss him without hesitation. He pauses and kisses me back, holding my face with his hands and moving closer to me. We continue kissing for a few minutes until our breaths become too sporadic for us to continue. We breathe heavily. Sighing. Smiling. The held in tension melting ever so slightly.
"Why?" He said.
"I- I have feelings for you." I trail off. Mark's eyes widen.
"I just- didn't expect you to kiss me like that." He trails off. we sit in silence for a couple minutes until I decide to break the tension.
"Well... What does this mean...?"
"I don't know Kale. My mind is so busy with Vidcon. I'd have to think on it." My heart skips a beat. It almost hurts. But- I didn't expect him to just flat out say he wanted me. I nod and comply.
Mark stands up and brings the rest of the cake with him. He leaves it in my fridge. "figured you'd like it more." He says with a forced smile. "I'll see you tomorrow morning Kale, dress nice ok? We have a lot of appearing to do." He shuts the door behind him. I wave.
I sigh and lay back on my couch as my thoughts become clouded with darkness. 'I'll think about it,' he says.
If you felt like I felt during that kiss, why do you have to think?
