When you turn 12, your soulmates name appears on your wrist, and once it does, whatever you write on your skin is mirrored on their skin.
If you write on your skin, it appears on their skin, if you get bruised, your bruises will be mirrored on their skin though they won't actually feel the pain. This is very rare, but if your bond is strong enough, then you'll be able to feel what your other half is feeling, be it physically, mentally, emotionally, or psychologically. Between angels and their soulmate, be it human or another angel, the angel can sense their soulmate's discomfort. If an angels soulmate is in pain, the angel will no doubt be aware, however if they decide to act on their pain, its simply up to the them. The marks that appear on both you and your soulmate appear to help you find each other.
Normal humans don't know this, then again, Dean isn't normal and Castiel is no human but there is a spell that can be used to telepathically link you and your soulmates' mind. The spell can differ from the bond, however it depends on the bond you and your soulmate share; if your bond is weak, unstable or easily disconnected, the spell would strengthen the bond, but if your bond is already strong, enforced by grace, there would be no difference, except you will be able to hear their thoughts, see their mind and memory. The bond you and your soulmate have is unlike any other for sure. The spell will only work between an Angel and a human soul, they must be soulmates, otherwise the spell won't work. The only reason this spell has been forgotten is because there hasn't been any angels who have humans as their soulmates. It hasn't happened...ever. Weather the spell has been used or tested before is up for debate, as it exists in the oldest book of lore, yet the book holds no record or result of the spell being used in...also ever.
No one even knows who wrote the spell in the first place, but there's a myth that it was an angel and a human couple who were soulmates. Nevertheless, it's still a myth. A bond between a human and an angel was the strongest type of bond there ever was. If there ever was a bond formed between an angel of heaven and a human from earth, the heavens would be aware.
As lore says, only an Angel's soulmate can see their wings.

Cas and a few more angels (Gabriel, Lucifer( cuz luci is good in this, plz dont hate me) Raphael, Uriel, Michael, Chuck(they think Chuck is a profit, but only Castiel knows that he's god) Anna, Balthazar, Hannah, Samandriel ) has been sent on a mission from heaven, they're orders were very clear: You will be stationed on Earth for 2000 years and you will study them, learn them, understand them, and communicate with them. You, the only angels with soulmates, will find your soulmates.
