It was quiet when I walked in, almost too quiet. But on the other hand it was normal because it was night, everybody in the building was sleeping. I kept walking.
The mission should be over soon, it was pretty simple after all.Kill the king's daughter.
I looked at the doors trying to find the name I was looking for. Jackson. When I finally found it I opened the door as quietly as I could and entered the room. The only sounds I could hear was my heavy breathing and the footsteps I made, but if you would listen close enough you could also hear the soft breathing of the small baby in the room.
I walked closer to it. It looked so calm, so...peaceful.
A loud noice made me jerk up. I recognised the sound as gunshots. The king's wife was dead. I looked back at the sleeping baby and aimed my gun. Ready to shoot.
But only to lower it again.
I gentely picked up the baby. Why would we have to kill such an innocent being?
The baby began to stir in its sleep, bringing my attention back to it."Shhh, it's okay... I'm going to take care of you..." I made this promise without even realising it. I slowly looked around the room, until my eyes fell on a painting of lotus flowers.
"...Lotus" I finished my promise.

16 years later...
The sun was shining through the window, the curtains too thin to hold back the light. Paul woke up by the light shining on his eyes. He instantly looked at his side, hoping to find the young girl asleep next to him, but the other side of the bed was empty. Paul started to panic slightly, only to relax when he heard her humming in the kitchen. That made him decide to get up too.
The man made his way to the kitchen. It was a small appartement, with only one bedroom and bathroom, a kitchen and a small sitting room. The wooden floor cracking with every movement. The sink in the kitchen was leaking. But it was enough for the little family. It was a home.
When Paul entered the kitchen he was greeted by Crazy Little Thing Called Love playing on the radio and a girl humming the lyrics of the song. It made him chuckel.
"Why so happy, Lotus?" he asked, curious to know why she was in such a good mood. But Lotus only laughed at the question, receiving a confiused look from Paul. Noticing that, she stopped. Walked over to him and placed a plate and a cup of black coffee in front of him. Lotus kissed him on the cheek and smiled.
"Because it my birthday, Dad..."
