I use a song in this chapter.
I DO NOT own it!
You might want to listen to it before reading the chapter, it'll make it more clear.
Song: Never Tear Us Apart by INXS.
Enjoy♡"Because it's my birthday, Dad..."
Paul froze, just for a second. Her birthday. Lotus' birthday.
She has been hidden from the world, the truth, the past, for already 16 years.
Lotus is 16 and she still doesn't know the truth about herself or him or what he did 16 years ago. What he was assigned to do.
Paul was pulled out of his thoughts was the girl started singing to another song that started playing on the radio."I was standing... You were there... Two world collided... And they could never tear us apart..."
The man recignised the song instantly. Never Tear Us Apart by INXS. He remembered listening to it, the day before his mission, 16 years ago.
"We could live..." Paul joined. "For a thousand years..." Lotus looked back at her 'father figure' and smiled.
"But if I hurt you..." She offered her hand and pulled the man on his feet.
"I'd make wine from your tears..." Together they slowly danced to the music.
"I told you... That we could fly... 'Cause we all have wings..." Lotus stretched her arms and turned around in a circle.
"But some of us don't know why..." Paul could only smile at the sight of his so-called daughter.
"I was standing..." They were singing with all their heart.
"You were there..." Lotus hugged her father.
"Two worlds collided..." Paul wrapped his arm around the small girl, burying his nose in her hair. Like he was making sure that she was still with him.
"And they could never ever tear us apart..." Lotus quietly whispered that last part, but Paul could still hear it. Little did he know, she meant it with whole her soul. The song went on, but the duo weren't paying attention to it anymore. They were just silently enjoying each others company. Paul sighed, breaking the silence.
"I have to go to work..." Paul worked at a small little grocery store. His pay isn't much, but it's enough for them. Lotus never was a complicated girl, never asked much, was always happy with the things she received.
Once the sentence left his mouth he could tell the mood of the girl changed a little bit and it broke his heart. "Yeah... Yeah... Of course..."
Lotus pulled away, gentely patting his chest. "You should get ready, Dad."
The man nodded in response, kissing her on the forehead.
"Thank you for the breakfast, sweetheart."Paul made his way to his room, to put his working uniform. If you could even call it a uniform. It's just a simple yellow T- shirt with the name of the store and blue pants.
He went to their small bathroom, to brush his teeth. He also washed his face with a bit of water.
He grabbed his jacket and bag. "See you this evening, Lou!" Paul jelled from the front door.
"Later, Dad! Love you!" He smiled at her response, closing the door behind him and locking it.He looked at the door one last time before going down the stairs.
