The month of November came fast and vanished even faster. It was the month of December; The first snowfall happened last weekend. Things were starting to smooth out. Eliza and Allison's friendship was still going strong. Kyle and Allison had practically become the closest of friends. The two had been pondering their odd feelings toward each other but had never let it become a conversation topic. The last thing they wanted is to ruin their friendship. It had been weeks since the incident; Allison's parents hadn't spoken about it since. It was almost like it never happened.
The bell rang after the fourth period announcing that it was time for lunch. Allison started collecting her papers and headed toward the cafeteria. Once she picked up her tray, filling it with fruits and vegetables, she went to sit at one of the middle tables of the room. Ever since Eliza and she had become better friends with Kyle, they all began sitting around more people.
"Helloooo!" Allison heard a plastic tray bang against the table. A friendly arm snuck around her shoulder.
"What no hi or hello?" Kyle smirked as Allison giggled and patted a spot for him to sit.
Man, she has the most adorable laugh! Wait, what are you saying? She's your closest friend Kyle. Snap out of it.
"Kyle!" Kyle refocused on Allison waving her hand in front of his face.
"Did you hear what I asked?" Kyle shook his head and settled.
"I asked where Eliza is."
"I'm here, I'm here." A voice interrupted the two. Both two girls hugged and instantly started rambling on about their social life.
"So," Eliza poked eagerly. "I heard that Luke is now single!" Kyle and Allison both choked on their lunches.
"Luke Rogers?"
"Yeah!" Eliza bobbed her head up and down in full excitement. Allison started to continuously bang her head on the table.
"What's up with you two?" Kyle inquired. "Do you have one of those little schoolgirl crushes on him?"
Though he didn't mean for his tone to sound so sharp, it sounded like a razor. Eliza didn't seem to pick up on it, but Allison certainly did. She wanted to ask him but decided against it.
"Oh no, gross dude!" Allison shot him the most disgusted look she could muster. "Never in a million years!" Eliza, on the other hand, sat there and sighed dreamily. Allison rolled her eyes in annoyance.
"But Eliza Ginger's here has fallen head over heels for this guy!" Kyle couldn't understand why, but a wave of relief washed over him.
"Oh well, in that case, Luke and I are pretty good friends. I could try and put in good work for you." Eliza's head popped up from her daze and eagerly shook her head up and down, to the point where it appeared like it might fall off. After Kyle regained his composure from laughing, he noticed Allison's perplexed expression.
"You okay, Allison?"
He gazed up to see confusion cloud Allison's eyes. Before Kyle and Eliza could ramble out more questions, Allison abruptly stood to her feet and made her way toward a tall middle-aged man, with a briefcase.
"Who's that?" Kyle nudged Eliza.
"Allison's father..." She huffed. By the door, Mr. Hayze stood in one place, like a statue in a museum.
"Allison..." The deep voice addressed.
"Hi, Dad..." She spoke in an assertive tone.
The two Hayzes weren't close enough for anyone to hear, but you could see the tension that radiated off from the encounter.
