Chapter 10: The twelfth five

A colorful bomb goes off behind Twelfth right after their dramatic introduction. You, Kagsugano, and Gasai could only stare at the five before you.

"Nice to meet you," Twelfth red spore first.

"First," Twelfth blue spoke next.

"I am," Twelfth yellow continued on for them.

"Known as," Twelfth green said.

"Twelfth!" Twelfth pink finished and you could tell by how soft their voice was that they must have been the only female of the group. It'd only make sense considering that they were wearing pink.

Award silence spread over the eight of you before Twelfth red seemed to have gotten sick of it, "children who don't respond to their elders grow up to be villains!"

"I-i'm sorry!" You said as you were snapped out of your thoughts.

"Heed this, First!" Sixth is deceiving you!" Twelfth red yelled out at you again.

"When someone first joins this cult, they must first perform an evil ritual!" Twelfth green explained.

"It's a test to prevent them from ever betraying the cult forcing them to be party to the cult's sins!" Twelfth pink then spoke.

"You can't trust that kind of cult!" Twelfth blue warned.

'Are they saying....Kasugano-chan is tricking us?' Your eyes glanced over at her from your right side.

"Our objective is to kill Sixth!" Twelfth yellow yelled.

"If you wish to avoid injury, you should leave!" Twelfth red yelled.

"One of us has swallowed a time bomb!" Twelfth pink yelled next.

"That is the real me!" Twelfth green yelled.

"W-what about the others?" You asked, these people were obviously mental.

"I hypnotized some people to act as decoys since i was getting desperate!" Twelfth red yelled as he stepped forward. a static noise was then heard as Twelfth red set down what looked to be a recorder.

'Is that recorder Twelfth's diary?'

"Unfortunately, my Dead end has been triggered."

"Well this is the middle of an enemy base after all!" Twelfth blue answered Twelfth red.

"However, i'll take Sixth with me!" Twelfth yellow yelled as he pointed at Kasugano.

"You're blowing yourself up?! Why!? That's insane!" You screamed at the delirious five.

"Justice always triumphs! I shall defeat evil even at the cost of my own life!" Twelfth red shouted, clenching his fists.

'Wow...these people are insane..'

There was only silence that followed after Twelfth's last comment- Gasai was the only one who broke it as she shouted at you to run before she grabbed your hand.

"Let's run for it! Otherwise, you'll get hurt!"

Your heart sunk a little inside your chest, "but what about...Kasugano-chan?"

Gasai didn't get a chance to argue with you as one of the five Twelfth's shouted "go!" Before they all took off in your direction.

You quickly pulled out of your diary to check your entries, "i know...i can use my diary! The real one is second from the left!" As soon as you said that the Twelfth five began changing their running formation. "Ah! That's not fair!" You cried out while Gasai bent down and picked up one of the stones from the rock garden before she broke into a sprint towards the five. "Gasai-chan!"

"She's taking a one in five chance..." Kasugano said as a frown set across her lips.

"Watch me!" Gasai shouted as she chucked the stone to what seemed to be the right but in actuality was the left. The green, pink, blue, and yellow Twelfth's all turned to look to the right while Twelfth red turned to the left. "You have good hearing," Gasai said as she confirmed her target.

Within an instant, Twelfth red's neck was split open by Gasai's ax. While Twelfth's neck gushed out blood and he fell backwards, he managed to gurgle out "you triumph; you are justice!"

"Oh, so it was the second one from the left..." Gasai heaved out.

The recorder that Twelfth red owned cracked out a voice, "Twelfth, Hirasaka Yomotsu, dies." Not too long after that a small explosion goes off within his body- you had to look away from the gruesome sight.

You only opened your eyes when you heard a soft thud, looking up you found Gasai had collapsed to the ground.

"Gasai-chan!" You shout as you run towards her.

'She's burning up...i guess she's been pushing herself too hard...'

"Impressive, second. You did well." Kasugano's monotone voice sounds from behind you shortly followed by a few foot steps.

You hold Gasai in your arms as your gaze moves to the front gates to see the followers closing it, "the gates...why are they closing them?" That's when realization hit you like a ton of bricks.

Just as you figured things out, however, a pair of strong arms belonging to one of Kasugano's follower's pull you back.

"Sweetheart..." Gasai calls out as she weakly tries to reach out towards you.
