Chapter 17: Akise Aru

"[Namie], are you alright?" Yuno worried over your hunched over panting form.

"I'm...I'm okay," you gasped out.

After discovering Hinata's corpse, you were soon introduced to Akise Aru- a strange but oddly charming guy who claimed to have been investigating the area around the time of Hinata's death.

At first, you mentally suspected him to be the killer, but after seeing those vicious dog's come out of the wood's, you suspect otherwise.

Currently, you, Yuno, Mao, Kousaka, and Akise hid away in one of the building's in the park. But even that wouldn't serve to protect the five of you for long against the crazed dog's outside.

"What's gonna happen to use?" Kousaka panicked as his gazed fixated on the glass windows that the dog's crawled on.

"We'll be safe in here..." Mao tried reassuring.

"Allow me to introduce myself again," Yuno felt jealously pull out her heart string's as Akise approached your hunched over form. "My name is Akise Aru, and my dream is to become an international detective."

"Uh, I'm-" you stammered.

"-Amano [Name]-chan. I know. Relax. For the past few days, I've been looking into your background." Akise laughed at the reaction he got from your face. Yuno only remained silent as she glared. "Did that finally spark some interest in me? Then, I shall continued. The serial killings, the Mall bombing, the Omekata cult incident....I discovered that you were involved with all of them. My intuition tells me that you're concealing a big secret."

'Could he know about [Namie's] diary?' Yuno thought to herself as she stood on guard not too far behind you.

"No, no, no....you have it all wrong," Akise saw the pure venom in Yuno's gaze and tried clearing thing's up. "I don't believe you've done anything wrong. After all..." he pointed towards the dog's outside.

"You're their target, right?" He continued. "I was concerned that you could be pulled into another dangerous incident."

"Well...thank you," Yuno felt pure rage boiling in the pit of her core as she heard you say those words. How could you thank him?! He was probably the one who pulled you into all this mess! In her eye's, she was the only person you should be on your knee's thanking.

"Well, we're friends from the some class." Unaware of Yuno's rage, Akise smiled warmly at you as he helped you to your feet.

"Are you really her friend?" Yuno's voice suddenly cut threw the air. "[Namie], consider our situation. The person controlling those dog's has to be nearby. They could be inside this building. Or in this very room." Yuno said the last part with so much hate that it caught you off guard.

By now, you were pretty much used to her being clingy and jealous of other's, but this was just flat out petty.

"Hey! The dog's are breaking in!" You were about to get onto Yuno for her attitude when Kousaka brought your attention back to the real threat at this moment. "What do we do?!" He begged no one in particular. 

"This isn't good. If they attack simultaneously...." Akise trailed off from his observation, hearing you to feel in the gaps with your imagination should any of the dog's break in.

'We won't be able to know which window's to hold down...unless...' you suddenly had an idea as you fished out your diary. 'It won't be long before they break through. I have to tell everyone which window to guard!'

"[Namie]." Once again, Yuno caught your attention. "Let's use them as decoys, so we can escape. After all, we can't trust them."

"No! Your wrong!" You shouted at her as you furiously scrolled through your diary entries.

The dogs break through, two windows to Kousaka's right.

The dog's break through the third window from the main entrance.

"Kousaka! Move two windows to the right!" You barked out commands as you read the diary entries. Deep down, you knew this was a bad idea. You knew you had to keep your diary a secret, but if you didn't use it now, then everyone may as well be dead.

It was probably around 8 or 9 o'clock at right where the devilish canine's finally gave up on trying to devour your flesh and left. During the time before they left, however, you bravely took control of the situation and commanded your new found friend's left and right to cover various windows.

"Man, nice going [Name]-chan! You're amazing," Kousaka said as he slung one of his arm's over your shoulder. "You could be on TV! I'll join you!"

"Uh, thanks," you were surprised by his sudden openness. Before, Kousaka basically wished death upon you- and that was before even the bombing that happened at the Mall! Now he was all over you with hug's and high-fives, as if you two were old pal's.

You didn't mind his sudden mood change, if anything, you welcomed it.

"Oh, yeah. You've been staring at your cell phone," he noted.

"Yeah. It told me which window the dog's would try breaking through. Like a diary," you explained.

"A diary?"

"Cell phones can perform a lot of functions," Akise butted in. "But I've never heard of a precognitive cell phone."

'What a relief...' you thought to yourself. 'I was half expecting these guy's to think of me as some freak for having this type of power-' your thought's were suddenly cut short as Mao came up behind you and snatched your diary from your hand.

"You really are amazing, Amano-chan," she began as she put a box cutter to your throat. "I'll be taking your cell phone, though."

"N-no, that's-"

The door behind you opened as a familiar voice spoke.

"Man, that was some surprise. I never expected Amano to reveal her secret so quickly." Craning your neck around the best you could without being cut, you saw Hinata's face peak out from the door frame. "Sorry, Amano-chan."

"H-how?" Was all you could manage as Hinata entered the room, perfectly fine and unscratched.

"Hold it!" Hinata yelled at Yuno who was about to make her way over to you. "I have my Breeder's Diary." Hinata held up a pink flip phone much like your's.

'Man, are all the Future Diaries outdated pieces of junk?'

"Besides," Hinata continued. "I'm not interested in Amano. I only want one thing...your Future Diary, Akise Aru!"
