I was being bored to death while Mrs Smith went on and in about human sacrifice in the ancient civilizations. Who doesn't know this stuff. Oh yeah anybody in my class. I was the smart kid this year and every year

As she went on with the lecture I sat there Twiddling my thumbs and tapping my feet. I listened to the sound of thunder outside, my ears vibrating.

I looked over to where Nick would usually sit and wished he was here. He would have made a smart remark to make the teachers face turn red leaving the class laughing.

I excused my self to the restroom. I walked out the door when someone grabbed me by the wrist pulling me into the corner.

"Nick?!" I almost shouted.

"Sshhh!" He whispered.

"What are you doing here?" I replied.

"Just follow me."

I followed him down the stairs thinking I would regret this later. He pushed open the door letting the strong winds burst through. My dark, curly hair flew behind me and Nick's blonde hair was disheveled.

We ran over the fields to where a guy with black, short hair was standing. His dark eyes scoured the fields. .

"Who is he?" I said under my breath leaning next to Nick's ear.

"That is Abhijit. Son of Athena."

I knew what was happening. I read it in Percy Jackson in first grade.

"Does he bore people to death with interesting facts?" I snickered

"Very funny but no."

"Who is your godly parent." I questioned

"Zeus"

Abhijit grinned cunningly. He slipped across the fields and I was gasping for breath by the time we reached the pavement.

"Look who decided to join us." Nick said a smile spreading across his face.

His eyes were focused on something behind me. I slowly turned. Behind me was a girl who looked normal except for the fact that she had flaming hair, one iron leg, and eyes that cut you with one glare.

"Your very first monster" Abhijit said

Nick had already brought out a golden sword. And Abhijit had brought out two daggers one black the other silver.

He placed on in my hands and my fingers curled around it.

The empousaii scowled revealing two fangs and a bloody tongue.

I slashed at the the beast first at the wrist and then at the neck. She lunged and I was pinned to the floor. Her claws dug deep in to my neck and I could feel blood rushing. I tilted my head back to see Abhijit watching in amusement. My face turned red and ears steamed.

I rolled over holding the empousaii down, my forearm against her lower neck. I raised the dagger above my head sitting on her and swiped where her heart should be.

She burst into dust and I sat there on the floor questioning if that was real.

Abhijit helped me up and I dusted off my jeans. My neck had a cut and a red tinge settled before the blood was to come

"Lets take her to camp." Nick said

"Yeah maybe we will find the poor god that ends up with her." Abhijit remarked

I was too tired to come up with a comeback.

On the way to wherever we were going Abhijit and Nick stopped for a break near a pond. I grabbed at my iPhone 6 in my back pocket and pulled it out to play a game.

Nick looked over his shoulder and his mouth almost dropped open. Before I knew it he had reached for my iPhone6 and chucked it into the pond.

"Wha?? What did you do that for?!!?!" I screamed" I just got that for my birthday!"

" You know what is happening I assume, given your....parent. But phones send off a message to monsters. Might as well say get your toasty demigods! get them while they are hot!"

"Oh yes this is the highlight of my week! I just killed an empousaii and my phone was thrown in to a pond. How wonderful!" I yelled

I calmed my self down and asked" how many miles till camp?"

Nick dropped his sword and closed his eyes. With a flick of the wrist he flew up at least twenty feet above.

He floated down." It's about a mile till the road to take us."

He said it so calmly like he hadn't just dropped from 20 ft.

"How did you do that?"

I could see a pang of jealousy on Abhijit's face and he looked at the grass, twirling it between his fingers.

We set on again stopping at a broken down road. Abhijit slipped a golden drachma out of his back pack and threw it. It clattered on the road wobbling to a stop.

A minute later a car appeared. Abhijit sat in the front seat and me and Nick got in the back.

"Do you know how to drive this thing?" I asked

"Lets find out"

He placed his hands on the steering wheel and pressed down on the pedal. We went rocketing forward in a straight line.then a sharp left turn came and we tilted so left that we could have fallen with the touch of a feather.

We finally reached a hill. A pine tree with a golden substance covering it stood at the top of the hill a translucent effect covering it and whatever was beyond.

We were at camp halfblood.
