I woke up that morning in a glass and white room.

The clinic.

I twisted my body to get out of bed when a shot of pain ran up my leg and my waist bent over in pain.

I rolled onto my back again and lifted my head to see stitches going up my thigh and under my usual gym shorts. I didn't even wait to look at my waist.

I had to get out somehow. I hurdled off the bed towards the floor catching myself with my hands.

Great now I couldn't get up.

I scanned the room looking for something to use as support when I saw some crutches in the corner near my bed.

I used my elbows to drag me across the tile floor making screeching noises as I went.

"Screech...squeak!"

I pulled at the crutches and they clattered to the floor. I grabbed at the handle an put the end on the floor. I levered my self from the ground trying to get a grip of myself. I lifted my right leg a little to relieve the pain. I could feel a cast wrapping my chest under my floor and shifted uncomfortably.

I tried walking one step at a time. I swung the crutches forward and pulled my self even farther.

Crutches and pull. crutches and pull.

I went through the clinic stopping at every little room to see which warriors had fallen during battle. I saw Sara, who seemed to be staring at me with a snarl that could make blood curdle at the sight of it. And I saw Ethan, one of my best friends lying in the cot, helpless. I stood at the glass window for a while.

The smell of saline bags got to me and I hurried outside.

Tim and Nandini were waiting for me.

"Hey guys!" I croaked.

"Hi" they said in unison.

Tim left to go try archery and Nandini carried my two daggers for me as she took me to my cabin. I walked, or half walked into the Athena cabins. I looked at all the golden plaques on the ends of the bed. Tim, Brandon, Anna, Mahathi, Emma, Allie, Kevin, and me.

But there was one new plaque I stared at for minutes while Nandini placed my daggers on my bed.
