Rin's POV
"Aha, I'm just kidding. Isn't he just the cutest thing?" Hairu exclaimed in her usual dramatic and cheerful voice, ending that she said with a giggle.
"W-What?"
That sure is a new opinion.
"You heard it."
That's kinda weird to hear from Hairu considering she's 1 year younger than him, but she does mature quickly. She looks a lot older than her age, almost 21, but her appearance mostly lingers around age 20.
Besides that... Suzuya being cute?
"He looks like a little kid, like you!" she giggled obviously trying to get an annoyed reaction out of me. I know for a fact I was one of the very few people that could stand Hairu's personality and constant teasing. It was a quirk of hers few understood. A lot people put up with it though, either because of her good looks or because they didn't want to get on Hairu's bad side.
Her bad side is not one you want to taunt with.
"Anyways, why don't you visit Suzuya?" she asked as she rested her elbow on the armrest of her driver's seat, pointing her finger at the cieling as she focused on the traffic before her.
"Visit? When would that be? Plus I barely know him, it was a small thought in my head." I questioned.
"Well, tomorrow would be fine. And if you don't know him that well I see a better reason- for you to visit him," she said gritting her teeth as she said that last part, the traffic visibly irritating her.
"What's up with this traffic! It was fine half an hour ago," she exclaimed as she threw herself into her seat, crossing her arms.
I sat up and left my head resting-on-my-palm position as I looked forward at all the cars stopped ahead, honking at one another as if that would do something.
As I looked forward I was able to view something far in the distance, catching my attention despite not knowing what it is.
I gripped both of my hands on both the front seat and drivers, catching Hairu's attention, as I leaned forward and squinted my eyes.
My vision wasn't the best, but I was able to make out a small moving figure, possibly a person in the distance.
Coincidentally as I spotted that, loud screaming and wailing came from there as a bunch of people left their cars and began running the opposite direction.
Suddenly the figure became more visible, as something large and red arose from their back, tentacle like.
It was a ghoul.
The second I realized, Hairu seemed to as well a second late. A grin appeared on her face as she opened the car door and set her foot down on the concrete of the road.
"Hairu, what are you doing? We don't have our quinque's," I said as I watched her get out.
"Silly, remember what we have in the trunk?" she said staring at me mischievously, her pointing finger slowly tracing her chin.
I remember.
Suddenly I got out and began to walk to the trunk of the car, as well as Hairu, the sound of screams and people running surrounding us.
We swung open the trunk and both stared at 4 silver mini swords.
They were untouched since we first got them. The blade was shiny silver and went down to the handle that was black and felt of a cold sturdy metal.
All of them were about half the size of my 5'2 self, and were slightly heavy but easy for me to carry.
I grabbed ahold of 2 and so did Hairu, and we both shot each other opposite looks. Hers was a not so innocent smile, and mines was a simple plain expression.
This should be easy. Although I was always told to never underestimate my opponents, especially if I had never faced them before. It's an old saying, but kinda true. I never cared though.
"Catch up if you can!" Hairu suddenly yelled in her usual cheerful and sweet voice as she then launched herself into the air, landing on the roof of our car before beginning to charge down the street, skipping on every car as she raised her swords.
"Hey! No fair, I wasn't ready!" I exclaimed as I then did exactly as she did, but ran faster in an attempt to surpass her.
Eventually I was side by side with her, and we ran faster and faster, the ghoul becoming clearer as the seconds passed.
Suddenly the ghoul appeared a couple of meters away, and he had already seemed to notice us.
His kakugans glowed with anger and held barbaric emotion as his kagune did all the work for him, grabbing people by the legs and swinging them violently against the ground.
Blood stained the cement ground around him as he swung his long dark blue kagune towards me and Hairu, causing me to bend the upper half of my torso backwards. This allowed me to quickly glance behind me at all the people leaving their cars and running, but oddly enough some stood their watching us. Hairu however didn't reflex fast enough, since she raised her sword against the kagune, then throwing her back against the windshield of the car she stood on.
"Damn it, I wasn't ready," she said loudly.
"That's the thing Hairu. It isn't about being ready, it's about reflex," I said as I waited for another one of his long kagune to swing at me once again.
Despite her being about 7 months older than me, my abilities could beat hers by a long run. Actually, kind of long. She's beginning to catch up in training.
The second another one of his smaller tentacle-like kagune shot at me, I swiftly gripped tightly onto the small sword and slashed downwards in the center of it, blood splattering on my pale focused face.
"Gah! Y-You bitch!" The ghoul shouted as the anger in his expression became more recognizable with every second, his clenched together face showing veins.
Before I was able to make another move, Hairu joined the mini battle.
"Hey! Don't do it all Rin-chan!" she giggled as she swiftly jumped to her feet and began to maniacally swing her blades repeatedly at the ghoul, scarring his kagune as she did.
"Fucking bitch," he mumbled under his breath as he continued to swing his kagune at her strategically, still receiving deep scars.
As they launched their small taunts and attacks towards each other, I silently yet quickly ran around the ghoul at a distance, eventually reaching his backside.
Out of instinct and little force I did a front flip, in the process throwing both of my blades at the ghouls head, going through the back of his head and coming out the other side through his eye sockets.
I landed on my feet watched as the ghoul fell forward onto his knees, then hitting the ground. The metallic clank of the blades that impaled his eyes sounded.
Once he fell I was able to see Hairu who was visibly annoyed.
"Awe, of course you always decide to do all the fun stuff. Next fight we get into let me do the work, got it?" she said in her usual high pitched sweet tone that never allowed anyone to take her seriously.
"Yeah, yeah. Whatever, for now we need to go home.
