Lunch break has finally come, and Bea decided to go back to her classroom to eat. It was also a good thing that her name did not escape my memory anymore.
"'Di ka pa ba kakain?" Zachrey asked me amidst my contemplation.
"Sege, kain tayo." I just nodded to him as he blessed himself and started digging in.
"I thought you were going to take your lunch in your classroom," I uttered.
He looked famished, though. Sa bagay, ang aga rin kasi mag-start ng klase nila, so he probably missed his breakfast.
Why do we have to suffer this shifting, anyway? Our classes start at ten o'clock to seven o'clock at night. Good and convenient, but dangerous at the same time since we go home late at night.
Amidst thinking about it, I just sighed when I remembered something and said, "Buti ka pa, hindi big deal sa'yo na tawagin ko ang parents ko na 'Mommy' and 'Daddy'."
He looked at me.
"Why would it be a big deal?" he asked, shoveling another bite of his viand into his mouth.
"Who knows?" I blinked. "Yung iba kasi sasabihan ako ng 'rich kid' just because of how I address my parents."
"I see. Chill lang."
"I am, Zachrey." I released a heavy sigh again. Gutom lang siguro ito.
"Gutom ka na, 'no?" I did not hesitate to nod. "'Wag mo na lang masyadong intindihin 'yan. It's just a notion of most of the people."
He grabbed his water bottle and took a sip before continuing what he said.
He placed his water bottle back to his backpack. "So, basically, you can't blame them if they call you one."
Napabuntong-hininga na lang ulit ako for the third time.
"Perhaps you're ri─"
"Xiamin."
"M-Mommy!" Dali-dali akong tumayo at nagmano sa kanya. "How did you get in here?
"Relax." She winked at me.
The teachers inside the classroom immediately greeted her like she was one of them.
I see. Kaya pala nakapasok siya. I nearly forgot that she can get rid of almost everything and can get along with everyone in just a snap. I wish I had such high confidence like her, though.
