Bernadeth nodded, but before she went to check on Zachrey, she asked her husband a question.
"Teka, ba't ba tayo nagmamadali? "Let's take it one at a time."
"It was Cj, Bernadeth.
You have a point there. Even though I lied to our son, that doesn't mean I don't regret that. It was all for his good." She forced a smile on her husband and motioned to the stairs. "Sege, I'll go upstairs and check on Zachrey."
Bernadeth knocked on the door, pero walang sumagot.
"I know you're hurt, but we have to do this for your greater good."
She speedily went back to her husband after checking on her son and said, "Napagod siguro sa kaiiyak si Zachrey, kaya nakatulog ng mahimbing."
"Gano'n ba?"
Bernadeth asked. "I know na magpupumiglas iyong makaalis kaagad kung malaman niya na wala tayo dito."
"You really think so? Siguro naman nagtanda na 'yon," Richard replied with a serious tone. He doesn't want us to fully lose our trust in him."
"Okay, fine. Maybe you're right. I'll go change. Just give me thirty minutes."
"Yeah, me, too."
After several hours when Zachrey woke up, he noticed that the house was so quiet. He immediately went down and confirmed that he was the only one left. He watched the clock and it was almost three o'clock in the afternoon already.
"I must have slept pretty well that I wasn't able to notice the time," he said and yawned. "Well... maybe not that good dahil ang sobrang bigat ng mga mata ko."
He scanned his eyes around his house again.
"Since wala si Mama at Papa, now's the perfect time for me to go to the hospital."
It was almost four o'clock in the afternoon when he was able to get out of the house and went to the hospital. Before he could get too far, he heard a voice calling his name. When he turned around towards the source of the call, it was just his neighbor.
