a new morning

a new morning. my brown locks are tousled messily over my face, still damp from the burning hot shower i did not want to get out of last night. the smell of my freshly washed sheets surrounding me, my hungry and very fluffy cat is giving me head boops, my eyes red-rimmed and puffy from a night of sleep that got interrupted by my night terrors. my soft fuzzy socks scattered on the floor because i've taken them off in the middle of the night, my side feeling too empty with enough space to fit another human being, my mind buzzing with the thought of what i will have to get done today, all the people i will have to entertain with a conjured smile. my heart is crying because i've woken up, because i'm not one out of 8 people that die during their night of sleep. either the scientists are making up these numbers, or death simply won't grant me that gift. i'm guessing it's the latter. not to worry, we'll try again this night. hopefully this is my final morning.
