Midterms
Bella's POV
Time had moved swiftly. Both Bella and Prince were so busy that it seemed as though they had gone to bed one night and wakened to find that it was already the 2 nd week of November. They would be flying home tonight so that she and Elaine could take their midterms. She had already done so for 3 of her classes over the last week. Two though, Advanced Vocals and Solo Choreography for Bella had to be done in person. Elaine had one in person mid term for her Screenwriting 4 class. She would be presenting the synopsis for the screenplay Another Chance. It was really important that the presentation went well because approval meant that she could do the treatment as her senior project. If it did not receive approval, she would be writing two treatments final semester and she honestly did not think she could and do well in her other classes too. She had done her best and was pleased with the outcome. She would trust the Creator that her professor would be also!
Bella and Elaine were at first going to fly with a bodyguard, take their exams, spend a few days with family and then head back to California. That idea however didn't fly as neither Prince nor Carlos felt comfortable with them flying so far without them. Plus the security team had requested to spend through Thanksgiving with their families. Melvin had invited Helen home to meet his parents. She would fly out on Wednesday evening. He and Helen would join his brothers Frank and Larry along with their wives and kids for Thanksgiving dinner at their parent's home. Carlos, Elaine , Prince and Bella would have dinner at Bella's parent's, David and Kendra's place. Both Prince and Carlo's parents would come to Detroit to join them. David and Kendra had plenty of room for everyone with their six bedroom home. Kendra could not wait until those rooms were filled up with grand-babies. Only Ross would not be flying with them. He was spending the holiday with his wife and kids in Chicago.
Bella closed down her laptop and put it inside her carryall. Prince came into the study and asked if she was ready. Walking over to her, he pulled her into his arms and said "we are halfway to the finish line for this semester". He was so proud of how disciplined Bella had been thus far this term. He knew she would ace these last two exams and he was planning a surprise for her at the end of the term. He smiled and thought to himself, he had picked the right woman. She would be a wonderful role model for their children. He kissed her on her lips and asked if she needed him to do anything. She had answered nothing but load the suitcases into the car. Prince said he already had. He told her he wanted to show her something though and led her back into their room. Opening the closet, he pulled a huge box out of the back of it. It had a huge purple bow on it. "Open it Mama", he said. "What did you do now Prince", Bella asked giggling? "Just open it", he said smiling. Bella opened the box and found a beautiful beige cashmere coat with chocolate mink pelts trimming the collar and the front panels of the coat all the way to the hem line. "Oh Prince", Bella said in a whisper..."it is gorgeous". "Yeah", he said. "Just like my Bella. Try it on", he said. He helped her put on the coat and tied the belt around her tiny waist. "Wow", he said. "You look like a movie star". She kissed him and said "Prince you are the sweetest man". " You make me wanna be that way", he said nuzzling her neck. "Thank you baby. This is a very thoughtful gift". "Welcome", he said and nuzzled her neck again. Bella had come to California in June in a light weight jacket, planning to return home in September. When she gained her parent's permission to complete her senior year through long distance learning and remain in California with her Prince, she did not bring a winter coat. Detroit was having a cold winter. Prince had asked if she had a winter coat and she told him yes, in Detroit. He had just said okay...but had immediately bought her one. She was very blessed to have a man like him and she knew it and each day tried to be a blessing to him too. From Prince's perspective, she did so every day. Prince had tipped Carlos off to the fact that Elaine probably did not have a winter coat with her, and he had bought her a lovely fox jacket. They heard a squeal coming from their room...Prince smiled, apparently he had just given the jacket to Elaine. They all gathered in the living room, joined hands and prayed for traveling grace for each of them and blessings for their families this holiday as they spent time together. Frank secured the house and called his detective buddy to make certain he remembered to order extra drive by details until the Sunday after Thanksgiving. They would be returning on Saturday. They piled into the SUV and took off for the airport. Carlos and Elaine would stay with her mom and dad tonight, but then would be at David and Kendra's Thanksgiving night so they could spend some time with Carlos's parents and Prince and Bella too. Bella would take two exams tomorrow and then would help her mother prepare the Thanksgiving meal on Wednesday. Thursday would be the most special Thanksgiving she had ever had. All the people she loved the most would be there and she had a surprise for Prince in that both sets of his grandparents had been invited too and would be staying at her mom's. She knew that would make him happy. They dropped Ross off at the American terminal while the rest of them went to United. They dropped off the luggage at curbside checked it and Melvin took the car to park it while Frank and Larry took the two couples through security. They boarded the flight without incident after Melvin had joined them. This would be the first time they had been without their security team since the attempted kidnapping of Bella by Jimmy Sanders. There was however nothing to worry about as David employed full time security at his home. They arrived at the airport to find David and two of his security detail waiting for them They dropped Elaine and Carlos off at Andy and Linda's for the evening and said that Jermaine Hart, David's chief of security, would pick her up in the morning to take her and Bella to U of M for their mid-terms. Each of the couples had a lovely relaxed evening with family and turned in early so that Bella and Elaine would be rested for their exams. All went according to plan the next day and both girls felt they had done well. They would have their grades by Monday and would now simply focus on having a good time with their families. Prince also wanted to speak with David. He had something very important to tell him...and ask depending on ones perspective. When they turned in on Wednesday night, they were happy and tired but delightfully so. Bella had helped to cook their holiday meal, Prince had completed the arrangement for the new piece of music and Carlos and Elaine had enjoyed a wonderful day with her parents making two cakes to take to Kendra's tomorrow. The men had played ping pong and poker and had really enjoyed each others company. Tomorrow would be a wonderful and memorable day.
