Ch 2: Heartbreak

It hurts.

He felt pain. He wasn't bleeding, but it felt like his heart was being gouged out. He felt like bursting into tears, the pain was practically unbearable. He felt his eyes prick with tears, his vision becoming blurred. Todoroki stood up, trying to blink away his tears, drawing the attention of none other than Yaoyorozu.

“Hey, where you going Shoto?” She walked away from now loud group of kids, desperate to know where her crush was headed.

“It's too loud in here. Plus I gotta use the bathroom...” His expression hardens for a couple seconds as he swiftly leaves the room, feeling the hot tears he was holding fall as he looks for a place to hide for the time being. He settles with the mens bathroom and shuts himself in. He lets out a small sob, wiping the harsh flow of tears. Why did he have to feel this way? “W-why….” he whispers to himself, his voice hoarse. He felt the room getting colder, frost forming on the stall door. He huffs and keeps wiping his his tears using his “father's” quirk to melt the ice.

He lets out a shaky breath and stands up clenching his fist. He pushes open the stall and looks in the mirror. His eyes are slightly puffy and red from crying and he had a distraught expression. He sighs and takes a couple breaths before putting back on the stoic mask.
He walks out and strolls through the halls thinking.

“I thought Midoriya liked me… or am I delusional?”

“Heh, being gay is hard.”

“Maybe… going out with Yaoyorozu won't be so bad?”

He reached the door of 1-A and he hesitates before walking into the classroom, seeing how his class has calmed down. “Ah, Todoroki!” Yaoyorozu bounces up and leans in his way.
“How was the bathroom?” She awkwardly smiles as he tries not to cringe at her bad attempt for conversation. He simply shrugs and gently pushes past her to get to his seat. He blocks out all noise of the classroom, looking out the window. He can hear the wind blowing the trees, the chirping of birds… He felt okay. He was going to be okay.

Meanwhile, Midoriya was close to having an anxiety attack. He sputters and squirms as people ask him questions about Uraraka. He didn't know how to answer most of them, and he refused to even look at Mineta. Suddenly he's pulled into a protective hug by his new… girlfriend. “Hey, guys you're upsetting Izuky!” His face flushes at her new nickname for him. ‘Doesn't she just call me Deku? Why does she need to make another name?!’

The class lets out a dramatic “Aw” in unison. They soon back off due to Uraraka giving them the stink eye. She smiles at me and he silently thank her with a smile his own. He glances around the classroom and sees his silent heterochromatic friend staring out the window. Midoriya stares at him, seeing that he looked a little more down than usual, and that's saying something, given he doesn't show emotion much. He releases himself from Uraraka's protective arm and walks over to his stoic friend. He says his name a couple times before clapping in front of his face, causing him to jump. Todoroki looks up at Midoriya and smiles slightly.

“Hey.” He says quietly, his voice a little hoarse from earlier.

“Hey, you okay?” Midoriya frowns, “You seem… sad? Maybe tired… I don't know, but if your tired you should get some more rest, those eight to twelve hours count you know! Being more energized helps you work harder! Plus-” Todoroki laughs quietly and covers his mouth. Midoriya blushes realizing he's been rambling.
“S-sorry!” He tries to apologize but his speech is muffled. Todoroki laughs at this and removes his hand from his mouth.

“Sorry, my father… we just did a lot of training.” He says blandly, feeling slightly bad for lying to his crush. He stares at his left hand and closes it into a fist, sighing. He suddenly sees a freckled hand gently grabbing his hand. He looks up at a smiling Midoriya.

“I hope you remember my words!” he says, looking at him

Todoroki tried to keep a cool expression, his cheeks only slightly red. “Thanks Izuku…” He whispers. He looked at him for a couple seconds, before making a stupid decision. He didn't know what made him do it, it just hurt. It hurt not being able to just kiss his freckled face right then and there. But he had to just ask him.

'Its not like it would affect him anyway'

“What do you think about me and Yaoyorozu dating?”
