I obviously couldn't sleep. Ash had been asleep for hours, and I was still wide awake. My cheek was still tingly from where his lips had touched it. I decided to get up and go watch tv.

I carefully slipped Ash's arm off me and pulled the covers off of me. I stepped into the hallway and shut the door quietly. I heard the tv on and walked out to find CC eating pizza in front of the tv.

"Hey there pretty lady," he said with a smile.

"Hi, CC," I said lightly as I sat on the couch next to him.

"Are you alright?"

"Yeah, I just can't sleep," I muttered.

He put his arm around me and said "well then you can stay out here with me."

I chuckled and agreed. He handed me a piece of pizza and I ate it slowly. Today had changed so much, and so many crazy things had happened. I didn't really know what was going on.

"So.. is everything okay from... earlier tonight?" he asked seriously.

"Mhm," I mumbled. I wish they didn't know about that. I felt embarrassed that they knew I had tried to kill myself.

"Do you wanna talk about it?" he asked as he stared into my eyes.

I nodded. "Sure," I said as I swallowed a small bit of pizza. "Well, my ex, Tyler, cheated on me. With his ex girlfriend. Who, I might add, he cheated on with me. So I should have expected it.. but.. I don't know. I loved him. I didn't want to believe that he would do something like that.." I mumbled as a tear spilled over. CC pulled me close and mumbled that it would be okay.

"I know it will," I muttered, but it still hurt to think about it. If I could just keep my mind off of it, it wouldn't hurt. But I couldn't. That's the problem. I didn't want to let him go. I still loved him. I didn't just want to throw him away.

But I had to.

"Thank you, CC," I muttered as he kissed my hair.

"You're welcome," he muttered into my hair.

"I'm gonna go to bed now," I said as I yawned and stood up. I walked to Ash's room and laid back down. As soon as I did, he looked at me.

"Where were you?"

"I was out in the living room watching tv with CC," I told him.

"Oh, okay. Have you slept at all?" he said as he turned on his light and looked at what I assumed to be the bags under my eyes.

"Um.. no.. I couldn't fall asleep.." I muttered as a tear sprang up in my eyes.

"Oh, Emma, I'm so sorry," he muttered as he sat up and wrapped his arms around me and pulled me onto his lap. He rocked me back and forth as he hummed the song "Saviour."

"I just can't stop thinking about Tyler and what he did. Why had I been so stupid?" I mumbled through the tears.

"It's okay, Emma, I promise, it'll be alright.." he said. Then his head shot up. "I know what'll cheer you up."

"What?"

"You'll see tomorrow. For right now, get some rest. Please."

"Okay.." I said as I calmed down. My curiosity was overrunning my sadness at the moment. I got off of Ash's lap and laid down on the bed. He turned the lights off and kissed my cheek again before going back to bed.

I smiled and closed my eyes. I dreamed about what had happened that night; the bad and the good. I woke up at about 3 in the afternoon to find Ash staring intently at me.

"Hey there pretty lady," he said.

"Isn't that CC's line?" I mumbled.

"Maybe. But I stole it," he smiled and I returned it. "So, are you ready to... well nevermind, you're obviously not," he laughed, and I remembered that he said he was going to cheer me up today.

"Yeah, can you run me to my grandma's house-- I mean, my house," I stuttered. It was still weird to say that my grandma's house was also my house. Ash was looking at me weird, so I explained that I lived with my grandmother because my parents had died in a car wreck 4 years ago.

"I'm so sorry, Em," he mumbled, then said that he would take me home to get ready.

We got into his car, and he grabbed the steering wheel with one hand and my hand with the other. I blushed.

I told him where my grandma lived, and we were there in 20 minutes. I ran upstairs and brushed my teeth and hair, washed my face, got dressed, and did my makeup. I usually did my hair, but it looked pretty good natural today, so I decided to leave it like that. After a half hour, I was ready. Before I left my room, I grabbed my suicide note and ripped it into tiny pieces. As I ripped it the last time, Ash came in my room. "What's that?" he mumbled.

"N-nothing," I stammered and threw it in the trash. He just looked at me knowingly and came up to me and gave me a hug. I hugged him back.

"You look good," he muttered into my hair.

"I do not. But thanks. So do you... Obviously. You're Ashley Purdy," I laughed and he joined in.

"Stop putting yourself down, please. You're beautiful. Stop saying you're not," he said in a quiet yet stern voice.

"Whatever, you're just being nice," I mumbled as I pulled away from him. He was about to protest but I said, "It's 4 o'clock. We should probably go do whatever we're doing before it gets too late. I have school tomorrow," I remembered. "One more month of that shit," I said happily.

He just smiled and grabbed my hand and led me to his car. He was confusing me. Why did he keep holding my hand and kissing my cheek and calling me pretty and making those suggestive jokes? Out of pity? Is that just who he is? I know he's a player, but is this how he got all of those girls to sleep with him? Whatever it was, I couldn't let what he says or does get to me, because I wasn't really in the mood to get my heart broken again. "So where are we going?" I asked after a few minutes of silence.

"You'll see," he muttered.

We pulled up to a building. We got out of the car and he grabbed my hand and pulled me inside. I noticed that there was a stage. "Wait... Are you guys... performing right here..?" I asked in shock. He just nodded. I realized that he had his warpaint on.

"You get to watch us from side stage," he said with a wink.

We walked backstage and he showed me where I get to watch from. It was so close. The other guys were already getting everything together as I was fangirling about how close I would be to them. It's one thing to hang out with them, but it's another to be a few feet away from them as they perform, knowing that I'd also get to hang out with them again when they were done.

The show was amazing. I was jumping up and down and screaming the entire time. Ash kept winking at me and my stomach would fill with butterflies. When they were finished, I ran up to Ash and hugged him super tight. "Thank you so much, you're he most amazing friend ever!" I yelled.

"Friend..?" he asked in a hurt voice. "I thought we were best friends," he said as his eyes grew wide, and then he smiled and I returned it and hugged him again.

"Ashley Purdy as my best friend? Nobody would ever believe that," I mumbled.

"Well, it's the truth Emma.... wait, what's your last name?" he asked as he realized I had never told him.

"Mardy," I said.

"Emma Mardy; my new best friend," he said as he kissed my cheek.
