She was racing through the darkness, running with all her might. When something tripped her. Sending her flying into the air.
Landing on her stomach, she wiped blood of her grazed hands. And kept running. Nothing was gonna stop her. This was a race between life and death. A corner was coming up, the houses loomed over her like a welcoming darkness. Fire giving of crackles and whizzes.
Her family used to live along this street. When all she had known was a world of normal Earth. When she still had a family, that was.
Turning the corner she stumbled over some rubble, before continuing on her run. Shadows of bodies lay slumped against the ground, their lifeless bodies staring up into the midnight sky. And is she didnt run faster that would be her.
Fastet she ran, leaping and dodging everything in her way. But she knew this was it.
No time for tears! She told herself.
But she couldnt help it one single drop ran down her cheek. Every thing that had happened over the last few days deserved a tear. They deserved a thousand tears. But there was no time for that.
She was slowing down... She couldn't hold it in any longer. This was it. The end.
But she kept running. But there was no where to go. She had come round in a circle. Back at the town square, she was.
Something shot into her, sending her flying into the air before skidding on the hard concrete floor.
Skin peeled. Blood spilling every where. It hurt. A lot.
The girl lay there for a couple of seconds. Tears now flowing down her cheek from the pain.
Exhaustion took over her. This was it.
She managed to open her eyes, clearing them from the tears. Propping herself on her good elbow, she looked ahead.
It was him. Laying there so peacefully.
His beautiful eyes were closed. The eyes she had looked into a thousand times before. Even though she would never admit it, she loved him.
His chest lay silent. Not a breath to be heard.
He lay among the others. Her friends that had fought by her side. So many of them lost, all because of one person. A person that thought no human should ever live.
But this was it.
This was fate.
It had obviously chosen this path for a reason? Right?
"Pitty it had to end this way..." A voice the girl knew all to well spoke, "Maybe it was destiny, but you had a chance Alex. You could have joined my side."
Alex looked up, "And why would I ever do that?" She snarled.
"Well theres no need to be mean about it, " the voice smirked, " remember we used to be friends Alex. Remember the good old days?"
Alex looked up, biting down all the pain, stood just before her was a girl who used to be her friend. She didn't answer. She didn't want to.
"Its ok. It will all be over soon," the girl hissed, clicking her fingers. A bright fire ball exploded in her hands, dancing of her finger tips.
Now Alex was up on her knees. This was how it should have been, her on her knees begging for forgivness. But Alex would never do that. After this was it.
"How about now?" Alex asked.
"But I want to speak to my dear friend," She mocked. Inspecting the fire ball in her hands, "But you are getting on my nereves. Any last words?"
"Nothing good about you."
"Well how sweet," she stretched back like she was going to throw a tennis ball, "Goodbye Alex..."
A tear drop fell to the floor.
As her life flashed before her eyes.
