Beomgyu caught himself staring once again. A pink blush painted across his cheeks as he stuffed his face with a brownie. He didn't mean to of course, if he had the ability to stop he would have but he couldn't and he didn't know who to blame. The cute boy with the puppies jumping at his hand? Or his friend Kai for being so late to their lunch. He needed a distraction fast before Cute Boy realized that he was being watched and leaves in fear.

Cute Boy seemed too immersed in feeding the puppies fairly to care. His eyes on the jumping canines begging sweetly for his treats. Beomgyu was quite jealous. He wanted to sit in Cute Boy's lap and get fed with those manicured fingernails.

However, he was snapped out of his thoughts as a lanky frame disrupted his veiw, long torso covered in a red shirt, skinny ripped jeans.

Beomgyu looked up at his friend. "Finally!"

Kai smiled apologetically. "Sorry! Traffic was wilding."

The blond rolled his eyes before handing the younger a baggy full of dog treats.

"Call them over."

Kai thanked him as he sat down, huffing a bit as he opened the bag and turned around. Cooing at the puppies scattered around the cafe. It seemed that cute boy had run out of treats and all his canine friends abandoned him without a second thought as they ran to Kai.

Beomgyu cheered as he felt little paws tap against the floor beside his feet.

Cute Boy got up from the floor and brushed off his pants, grabbed his fruit smoothie and walked out with a small smile. Just like that, poof, gone from Beomgyu's life. Kai noticed his friend's gaze and chuckled.

Beomgyu frowned. "What?"

"Look at your finger."

The blond's heart sped up as he quickly looked down at his hand, seeing nothing but his small, red string wrapped around his finger. He sighed when realizing that he had been tricked. People couldn't see other people's red strings except their own.

"You're mean."

"I'm not! Just reminding you about real life."

"Okay but what if the red string did appear?"

"Then congrats! You snagged a really cute guy!"

"Ugh, just go get me another brownie please." Beomgyu pouted.

Kai complied after handing out the last of his treats.

As he was left alone once again, Beomgyu let his thoughts wonder but he came up with a blank head filled with water. He couldn't think just feel something deep inside his heart so small it made it uncomfortable to breathe. He ignored it. Trying to get in air as usual and just blaming it on his poor diet decisions as a teenager that had his body acting up.

When Kai returned the ache left and so did Beomgyu's worry.

"What's next after this?" Kai bit off a peice of a churro.

"Well it's your car we're going to be using..."

Beomgyu's parents dropped him off at the cafe because unlike Kai he did not have his license yet. He was frankly too lazy to get it.

"Uhhhhhhh." Kai blinked. "Well what do you want to do?"

It was a saturday and as best friends they were always at lost on what to do together. It was better being bored together than alone.

"I kinda wanna go clothes shopping."

"Let's do it." Kai grabbed his car keys from the table and stood up, stretching his long limbs before sighing. "I need to get new jeans anyway."

Beomgyu felt a chill run up his spine, the phantom of the ache in his heart making him swallow hard. He continued to ignore it and left with his best friend.
