I woke up the next morning and got dressed. I don't know why but I threw some make up on, good impressions right. I made sure my hair looked nice and straightened out the flannel tied around my waist. I smiled smally at myself in the mirror and walked to the over and grabbed the apple pie. I made sure it was wrapped up nicely and walked to my truck.

I slid into the fabric seats and rolled down the windows. It was only a little past noon but the Texas sky was already heated and frustratingly warm. I turned the truck on and smiled at the growl it produced, I was thrilled that I had this truck, I had always wanted it. I drove down the road and into the driveway of Thomas's house.

I didn't see him outside but I was sure I would have noticed if he was out, he's a giant practically. I parked the truck somewhat close to the house and stopped the engine. I sat in the truck for a second, butterflies fluttering to my stomach. I shrugged them off and climbed out of the truck.

Every step I took towards the door felt like I was sprinting miles. I walked up the porch steps and onto the concrete deck. It was cooler here, less hot and humid. I knocked on the door and stepped back a bit, not wanting to intrude. No one answered and I turned to walk away, figuring he was still asleep.

That's when the door opened. I had already turned around and had my back to the door. I turned and looked over my shoulder to see Thomas standing there, staring me down. I smiled and turned toward him. "Hey, I made you an apple pie.. I figured since you were here alone you probably didn't get many treats." I said, extending my arms to hand him the pie.

He stared at me for a second before accepting and taking the dish from my hands. He stared down at it and then back at me. "Is.. is that okay?" I asked as he didn't say anything. He immediately nodded, holding it a bit closer to him as if to show appreciation.

He stepped out of the doorway and onto the porch. He was several feet taller than me and looked down at me. "I hope I wasn't bothering you.. I just wanted to be neighborly and" I trailed off and he waved his hand as if to say it was fine. "You don't talk much do you?" I asked with a small chuckle. He shook his head and closed his eyes for a second, a small chuckle falling out from around his mouth cover that he was wearing the other day.

I smiled, "Well I better get back.. ya know, home." I said awkwardly. He nodded and stood there for a second before I left the porch and he disappeared back inside.I blushed as hard as humanly possible when I got back inside my truck. Why did he make me so awkward?
