You know, New Yorkers don't get phased by traffic after a while. But this girl does considering I'm not necessarily a New Yorker.
I'm stuck going to a private school with my cousin and best friend, my parents thought it was great to send me from our home in California to New York for my best friend moved here two years ago. And because my cousin does oh so well in school.
Or used to. We are graduating this year. I only managed to get in the second half of the school year for my Junior year. And now this one. Still, driving to school is a total bore. I insist on walking but my aunt is very nervous and prefers me to get a ride from my cousin and his friends or from Jade, my best friend since we were two.
Speaking of the devil, my phone began to ring, it was linked to my car so I answered the phone call with the control panel on my steering wheel.
"Hey Jade" I answered.
"Heeeey Alchemy" jade answered sleepily.
I rolled my eyes playfully at her. I can never get used to my middle name being used instead of my real name. Jade had always called me by middle name because she said it sounded like a "super hero name" but my aunt and cousin call me Alchemy because they said "Sigyn" sounds like a fancy way of saying Cigarette.
"Are you going to sleep in again?" I asked her with a smirk she couldn't see.
"I would if I could. If I miss the first day after thanksgiving break my father will kick my ass. He'll say things like wasn't your school break long enough?" She said mimicking her father.
"He does have a point, Jade" I chuckled.
"Ugh yeah, thanks mom" she groaned.
"Get ready, I'll swing by in ten" I said to her.
"With that traffic in the background. I'd be surprised if you make it before class starts" she chuckled.
"That was so funny I forgot to laugh" I muttered. She only gasped in response which actually made me laugh. "See you in a bit" I said to her then took a faster detour and route in the direction of Jade's home.
Due to light traffic I was at Jade's place in 13 minutes.

She was already outside in a gray knit like sweater dress with a pair of black leggings, and knee high black boots with buckles on them, and she wore a black beanie on the top of her blonde locks. Jade was never a cake face girl, she was a simple girl, she had beautiful facial features so the little make up she did wear was subtle but only enhanced her beauty.
She grinned when she saw me pull up.
"Told you!" She shouted and pointed at me. But she rushed into the car after I playfully flipped her off.
"Step on it, girly, we got 15 minutes" she showed me her phone.
"I know" I muttered with a chuckle. That's when I floored it into the direction of our school, still greeted by traffic but not as bad as it was just a few minutes ago.
"So.. Montgomery decided to quit" Jade said to me in a thick Brooklyn accent she had.
"What? Why? He was actually super nice" I glanced at her to not take off my attention too much from the road.
"Wouldn't you? That whole class is literally called the Sins of all Sins around the school" jade laughed.
"Oh and ew, let's not forget he was only nice to you cause he was a total creep" she crossed her arms and scowled in disgust. "Wha- Jade-" "Oh come on, innocent and hot ass nerd, perverted teacher, ugh hello total porno plot" Jade said in a duh tone.
"Oh my god, you're telling me you watch porn?" I asked in shock. "Well, not anymore, I mean I was curious, I have to find out somehow don't I?" She smirked.
"You are awful" I shook my head, "Oh you love me" she teased "Yeah. Unfortunately, I do" I glanced at her with a nod of my head.
"Eyes on the road" she piped as she pointed forward casually while keeping her own eyes on her cellphone. We had rounded the corner of the block our school was located at. "Well I wonder who the unfortunate soul is this time that will be taking over Montgomery's job. Those are definite hard shoes to fill" jade said looking out the window to see into the Staff parking lot.
She memorized every staff member and their car so she knows what teachers are present or not, it was her way of getting out of classes she didn't feel like attending. She was the absolute worst. Total opposite of my self but she is definitely my other half.
"Oh I think i see someone!" Jade shouted causing me to jump in my seat.
"Yeah and they probably heard you too, shush won't you?" I asked as I pulled into our student parking lot.
"Oooh he looks cute" she squealed "And Montgomery was the creep?" I arched my eyebrow. "Hush Hush, the hunk has my undivided attention" she leaned forward into her window as if she were mesmerized by him.
"Oh shit" she ducked her head down causing me to look over at her. She looked up slightly so only I could see her face.
"He saw me starring. And he looked pretty mad" she said then chuckled loudly.
"Just hope he isn't the replacement of Montgomery or you just had one hell of a first impression" I said to her as I pulled into a parking spot.
"I actually hope he is but he looked kind of scrawny. I like meatier men" she winked and sat up straight to get out of the car. "Yeah, don't I know it" I muttered then got out of my own car, we grabbed our belongings then locked the car to head into the school.
The first bell rang, signalizing us to head over to our first class of the day. Due to our guardians paying for our education we picked our own classes, meaning Jade and I as well as my cousin were all in the same classes. It was only four classes, however, it always felt like eternity.
"Where's your cuz?' Jade asked as we walked in the direction of our Mathematics class.
"I am not so sure. He wasn't home when I left" I told her. "Or he was just asleep and that quiet" she pointed at her forehead and at me. I rolled my eyes "Yes because Eddy sleeps with his car just casually in his room instead of the drive way" I chuckled.
"Oh well you could have said his car was gone—You're a little too sarcastic for my own good" she whined like a toddler. "I did say he wasn't home, evidently that should mean his car was gone too" I argued with an eye roll.
"Okay, OKAY! Damn girl, no mercy!" She shouted while laughing making me laugh at her sudden defeat.
Jade and I made our way to start the day with probably one of the worst classes to start the day with, people are always asleep in there. It literally bores you to death.
