The air is pungent with the smell of black smoke and a sort of metallic as Arthur quickly runs down the littered streets towards the ports. He could already hear the bustle of the crews scattered around, and could see the ships poking out from behind buildings.
He knew he was incredibly late by the way his Beta Captain had his arms folded over his chest, and had his face screwed up in a scowl. The Beta Captains feet tapped impatiently as he threw down the rope ladder and Arthur started to climb up to the deck.
" Captain Kirkland do you know how late you're making us? What was so important that we'll arrive a day later than we're supposed to?"
Arthurs lips curved up in a smirk, " Relax Jameson. I found a very interesting target at the local pub!" Jameson's eyes lit up, and he helped the Captain up from the ladder.
"Who is our next supplier Captain?" Jameson asked. They pulled up the ladder and were now heading to Arthurs office.
" It's the infamous Royal Navy ship from the west territories. It's headed north to drop off weapons and foodstuffs to their neighbors. If my calculations are correct we should be able to intercept them by sundown."
" That sounds fantastic! You know the men have been practically bored to death since last week, even though that was a small feat." Jameson dodged a passing crewmember and continued walking with Arthur.
" Yes, and since this is a Navy ship it should bring on quite the challenge. Usually we would just target passing cargo ships, but lately many of them have been avoiding the air space we usually cover." The Brit scowled and opened the door to his office. Jameson walked in and sat in the plush red chair by the window.
" Well it would make a great passing time. The men have been awful bored lately. The only action we've had, was that cargo ship last week, that unfortunately had a crew of three and the cargo was rotten cheese from the Limelight District." Jameson scowled. Arthur raised his eyebrows.
" And from my understanding we got a new cabin boy from that raid. Wasn't Mathew his name? Sweet boy, but blends to much into the background..."
" Yeah, that's right. I kind of forgot about him. When we recruited him, didn't he tell us that he had a brother in the Navy?"
" Yes, but he also said that his brother wouldn't hurt a fly, and I don't doubt that if he is anything like Mathew. And besides, if his brothers in the Navy we could probably get an inside source." Arthur chuckled and stood up when a knock at his door alerted him of company.
     "Come in!"
"Hello sir," a tall, lanky boy with medium wavy blonde hair and peculiar violet blue eyes stared warily in the doorway, " We're ready for lift off."
" Well thank you Mathew!" Arthur turned halfway to face Jameson. "We better be on our merry way then!" The Captain made his way out the door followed closely by Jameson and finally by Mathew.
" Also sir! There seems to be a storm rolling in from the north that might affect our route to the Zeone District." Mathew piped in quickly.
" Don't worry about it Mathew. You don't have to worry about Captains steering skills. He's the best in all the air districts, not to mention the seas below."
" Thank you Jameson, but flattery will get you nowhere. But still, Mathew, you can take Jameson's word for it. I won't let little storm blow me off course, and anyways we might just not be going to the Zeone District anytime soon. I found a passing Navy ship that is supposed to be carrying arms, and food supplies." Arthur heard Mathew's footsteps quicken behind him, and the boy was suddenly at his side.
" Sir, what ship?" His face was anxious looking." If I may ask..." He added the last part a bit more silently.
" Why no other than the S.S. Freedom! I've heard rumors that the cargo is always the best." Mathews face paled. " Mathew what's so wrong about the ship?"
" Sir...my brother is on that ship. He's the captain."
" Well from what I've heard from you, he seams harmless. I'm sure he'll be nice enough to at least 'trade' some things with us, an if he's even nicer he'll let us recruit some of his men without a struggle." Arthurs lips turned up into a smirk, but turned into a pressed line when Mathew started to speak faster, and more anxious.
" But sir, the ships not a normal cargo ship it's a -" Mathew was cut off by Jameson.
" I'm sorry to intrude on your conversation, but Captain you're behind schedule as is and we need to set off now." The Captain forgot about Mathew instantly and his excitement was sparked.
" Don't get you panties in a twist. I'm already at the wheel all right! Mathew please leave and tell the other cabin boys to prepare the weapons for later." Mathew looked down but raised his head to speak more, but Arthur cut him off. " Mathew, I know that you are worried about your brother, but I promise nothing will happen. It will be fine."
    "Bu-!"
" Captain we need to go."
"Fine, fine lets go. Raise the sails!" The Captains crew began to move into their assigned positions.
Mathew stood at Arthurs side for a second before walking off towards the cabins.
He mumbled, " It's not my brother I'm worried about..." But I didn't hear him.

TO BE CONTINUED IN THE NEXT CHAPTER

Okay so this is a new story. I'm a stupid, stupid person for putting up another story without finishing up the two current ones. But I've had this one rolling before Gone even came into my mind. And I decided to put it up. If people like this chapter I'll post the rest of what I have which is about 2 more chapters and will update it from there. So Comment, vote, and I'll see you next chapter!
