Alfred raced through the forest with the Night Hawk on full blast. The rain was thick and the air was icy, but he didn't let that stop him. The pirate captain had escaped and it was his fault. He shouldn't of told him his plan, even if it was partially a lie.
The Night Hawk shuddered and a plume of black smoke shot out of the exhaust system. Alfred cursed before kicking the breaks and jumping off the smoking vehicle.
The thing had taken to much damage from the falling debris from the ship and the heavy rain. There was no way he could use it now.
Shutting it off he leaned the machine against a nearby tree and set off in the direction the captain had run off to. In this weather he couldn't have gone very far, and he didn't believe that the captain could run forever. He'd be hung up by the cliffs, and the only way past them was flying or going around, which was practically impossible since there was a river at the bottom of them.
Alfred quickly made his way through the forest being familiar with the area before meeting with the cliffs edge. He looked around for any signs that the captain had come here. It could be possible that he had gotten lost in the forest or eaten by an animal, but he wanted to stay optimistic.
He sighed when he couldn't see anything wrong with the area and tug on his sopping wet shirt. His hair was hanging down and sticking to his face.
That's when he heard it. Cracking and the sound of rocks plummeting into water. He jumped to the edge and looked hard to where the river was meeting with the rocks of the cliff. Something big had just fallen in when he took off.
Down the way a bit was a small path that led down the cliff and to some beaches, that met up ultimately with the main beach. These were paired with the river.
He slid down and watched the rivers surface, hoping that whatever just fell in would surface. As he reached the bottom something splashed and the rivers rough surface was broken. A person was half choking and flailing around in the water, Captain Kirkland.
Alfred swore and took off downstream where the captain was being carried by the current.
" Hey!" He yelled, his voice was washed away by the rain and the river but it seemed that the captain heard him because he jerked his entire body around towards his voice. Their eyes met and the captain began to struggle even more than usual. A wave crashed over him and he was sent back under spluttering and choking.
" Hold on!" Alfred yelled as he rushed along the wet banks and over fallen logs to try and follow the captains struggling form.
He came to a stop as the river bent and he couldn't exactly go further unless he wanted to go swimming. He caught Arthur's eyes again but began to worry even more because his movements had begun to be sluggish. Kicking off his heavy boots he dove into the river.
" Fuck this is cold!" He thought as he swam through the rough current of the river. Waves crashed over his head and he was sent spiraling through the water, trying to hold his breath. He hit a rock and could feel the way it scratched across his torso, the sting of the wound made him hiss as he broke the surface again.
He searched across the top for any sign of the captain and caught sight of him trying to cling onto a submerged log. Quickly and efficiently swimming towards him he grabbed Arthur's exhausted form.
" Alfred?" the captain asked tiredly.
" Yeah Arthur, it's me. I need you to let go of the log so I can swim us to shore." Alfred tried to pry Arthur away but the captain wouldn't budge. " Arthur please let go," the captain didn't answer, " Arthur?" He looked down to see that the captain had passed out. His lips blue, and small scrapes marred his pale face. " Hell!" Alfred pulled one more time and got Arthur's hold of the log to be free. The captains arms swayed with the current loosely and Alfred swam backwards so his face would be above the surface.
They reached the muddy bank shortly and Alfred dragged the captain back into the grass and under a large tree, shielding them from the heavy rain.
He unbuttoned the captains white shirt and leaned over him. Putting his hands between the mans upper chest he checked if he was breathing. He relaxed once he found him to be breathing softly. Once again noticing how pale the captains completion seemed to be he pulled him into a princess hold.
" You're seriously going to be the death of me, " Alfred thought as he headed back upstream towards the hideout. Arthur didn't respond and Alfred promptly hurried his pace.---------------
Steamy lol. There's like one more instant chapter and then it's going to be a toss up of how long it'll take me to update. Anyways. Stay tuned.
