Travis' POV:

I kept running. It didn't matter how much my legs ached or how it felt like my stomach was going to explode. They couldn't catch me if I was a long distance from them, right? They were catching up on me.

"Crap." I muttered, running faster. I see an abandoned building up ahead. It was the Addison Apartments, the place where this apocalypse originated from. I quickly run inside the torn down building, stepping over bodies that have been mangled and devoured.

I see their faint shadows staring at me from the outside. They bang their heads on the glass of the windows before we both hear faint crying. It sounds like the one of a little girl. I run towards the elevator after hearing retreating footsteps and the sounds of a gushing liquid. I whisper a quick prayer for her.

I'm barely able to pry open the doors so I can get inside, but I manage to slip in through the cracks and make my way in. I crouch down, trying to activate the elevator. Larry used to live in the basement, right? Maybe there's still some food left in his kitchen. I feel my stomach grumble.

I look for the button to the basement, but there isn't one. Of course. Larry's mom had her keycard. I pick at the slot with a tiny piece of torn off sheet metal. I remember Sal taking me down there one time to hang out with him and Larry.

"Are you sure he's going to be okay with this?" I ask. Sal rolls his eyes. He inserts a small card into a slot the elevator has.

"Of course he is! Yeah, I didn't tell him I was going to bring you and he will totally taken aback by this, but... he's DEFINITELY going to be okay with this! Trust me!" Sal says, telling himself these words more than me. I smile sadly and shake my head. He pats my shoulder. He has his pigtails into braids, today.

"He hates me..." I say.

"No he doesn't!" We both give each other a look. "Okay, maybe he does a LITTLE bit. Okay, a lot, actually. But that was because of the things you did a while back, which we totally forgive you for! Just trust me." He says, his blue eye looking into mine. I wipe my snotty nose on my sleeve and nod.

Speaking of the devil, the elevator door opened and we walk to Larry's place. I look at house. Very homey. For being in the basement, at least. Sal peeks his head into Larry's room, the sound of loud rock music playing in the background. Sal explains that he brought a guest with him to watch the movie with them.

"Yeah, dude, that's cool. Who is it?" Larry asked. Sal gently pulls me into the Larry's view. I see him, he sees me. He drops the bottle of, probably spiked, Mountain Dew, as his mouth hangs agape. He doesn't speak for all whole minute. And when he does, all that comes out is

"Get out." Larry shyly says.

"Larry-"

"GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE! RIGHT NOW! YOU LITTLE PIECE OF SH-" Larry leaps out of his beanbag chair and leaps at me. He grabs me by the hair and hurls his right fist into my right eye. He doesn't stop at that. He pulls back and punches me in the nose. Blood drips out of it and Larry scoffs at me getting his carpet dirty. He aims for me again, but Sal holds him back.

"Larry, what the hell?!" Sal yells, barely holding the beast from attacking me again.

I take this chance to get out of here. I hear Sal pleads for me to come back, but I know that I'm not wanted here. I press the first floor button and make my exit. When I get outside, I find a tree that I can hide behind and I have a good cry. I don't return to Addison Apartments again.
