After a long drive out of town we finally we reached a quaint little house, covered in blue paint. It had trees on either side and small rose bushes, giving it an extra touch of color. The house itself from the outside was beautiful, it looked large enough to hold a family of four. We walked up the steps to the front door, and rang the bell. A woman in her mid thirties opened the door. She wore a simple white blouse with black pants, even her hair style and makeup were so simple. She looked like a city business woman.
Her name was Tina McChoir. Her husband Mr. McChoir came to the door. He was tall, with broad shoulders, dark caramel skin, and dark brown eyes that matched his gel covered hair. They welcomed us into their home.
“Hello, I’m Margaret, Juliana’s legal guardian-”
“My name is Kairi!” I yell back. All of Margaret's hopes are rested in this family. Here we go again. I thought to myself. Here goes nothing. We entered their home, with high hopes in our hearts. I clenched the little purple orb that dangled around my neck for luck.
“Well, they sound interested in you,” Margaret said trying to sound as cheerful as possible.
“No they didn’t. We both know it.” that was all I could say.
I could tell that the family didn’t like me. They have a son who’s 15. His name was Henry and looked like his father. He looked at me with those big, dark brown eyes the entire time. I will never forget the sadness and sorrow in his eyes.
After a long silence in the car, I realized that we were getting no where near the city. We passed acres and acres of nothing but old wooden fences, giant wheels of hay, and huge oak trees. Every few miles we would see livestock roaming around in the large pasters. I turned to Margaret who just looked forward smiling.
Eventually the car came to a stop in front of small ranch house. Margaret turned to look at me.
“I figured Luna could cheer you up.” she smiled
“Thank you.” I gave her a quick hug and dashed out the car.
I sprinted all the way to Luna’s stall. She was an all white horse with a black star on her head. She was beautiful. I grabbed her light purple halter, putting it on her as we walked to the tack area. Tacked in her purple seat saddle and old fashioned bridle, we rode off in the thick woods.
We stopped at a huge oak tree, with large thick branches, and leaves that blocked out the sun. Our favorite spot. Luna loved the grass that grew there, and I would sit under the tree and close my eyes. It was the perfect spot to think.
I let Luna roam on her own, and walked to the base of the huge tree. I sat down in between the huge roots that poked out of the ground. As I leaned back against the tree Luna walked towards me and started to graze right next my leg.
