Chapter 9
I stood in the middle of the crowded dance floor not really sure of what to do. Alcohol was coursing through my veins and mildly blinding my senses. I could still feel Harry’s warm embrace prickling at my skin which had me slightly itching for more. It was a foreign feeling that felt right in the moment.
I can tell Libby is interested in Harry though and I don’t know how I feel about that. I have to admit its nice having a guy for the first time in my life, besides my father or Liam, to notice me; even if it’s for a night. When I glanced over at the bar, I noticed Libby was playing the, ‘I’m so drunk card,’ due to the fact she just fell into his arms and acted as if she had not the slightest clue how it happened. Such a cliché move.
Valerie grabbed my wrist all of a sudden and dragged me into the bathroom, “You were burning holes through Libby’s little black slutty dress.”
“I didn’t even notice my gaze was fixed on them,” I huffed looking at myself in the mirror.
“Sure you didn’t,” she rolled her eyes; “You definitely like Harry.”
“No I don’t.”
“Then why were you grinding up on his fine body,” her eyebrow quirked up.
“It’s the alcohol,” I murmured.
“Sure it is B, sure it is.”
Our conversation ended quickly when we heard lots of glass shatter from back inside the pub but before we could go outside and investigate; the bathroom door burst open revealing a crazy eyed Liam.
“I saw you girls head in here a few minutes back. I just wanted to make sure you were alright,” he said out of breath.
“What the hell is happening out there,” Val screeched.
Liam motioned for us to follow, “Stay close to me so I can protect you two incase a drunk bastard decides to attack.”
Valerie nodded while my eyes pop wide open due to his words. In case someone attacks? We walked out of the bathroom and I noticed some BC football players yelling at what looks to be another team.
“Why are they yelling?” I turned to ask Liam.
“That’s the Holy Cross football team in the purple jackets. They’re our rivals and it’s said to be one of the most storied rivalries in college football,” he paused when one of the Holy Cross players slammed Dalton into a table causing more glass to shatter, “Ah shit. Go back to the table I’ll be over soon.” Liam ran over and pushed the guy off Dalton before punching him in the face.
“Come on let’s get a closer view,” Valerie tugged on the side of my shirt pulling my attention away from the fight.
“But Liam said to go…”
“Come on, when will you ever get the chance to see another bar fight?” she cut me off mid-sentence and ran over to a group of on looking cheerleaders from her team; leaving me no choice but to follow.
Lots of the Holy Cross boys started ganging up on Dalton and Liam. Harry, who was still trapped in Libby’s grip, broke free and headed over to Dalton and Liam. “Everything okay here mates?” he asked while sizing up the competition.
The group of purple jackets started laughing at Harry. A tall guy with broad shoulders and large muscles stepped out of their semi-large group. He had a big ‘C’ on the front of his jacket that most likely stood for captain; his dark blue eyes shone malicious and I couldn’t help but tremble from his overall appearance. Every detail of him from his tight black jeans to his light brown spiked hair and crooked nose screamed trouble.
