The woods are rather mushy today. Like well soaked mini wheats, but no where near as delicious. God, why do I keep relating everything to cereal? Anyways, my phone screen seems to have collected its own small town of rain drops. It's very pleasing to look at but especially infuriating when I try to change the song I'm listening to. I aggressively tap the screen hoping that a more vigorous approach will scare it into listening to me. Nope. I mean of course that wouldn't work, why would the world decide to help me for once? I mean how unfair of the world to betray poor little ole Gerard. Poor privileged white teenage boy Gerard, so unfortunate. Accounting for the fact that I'm already late for school, it would be only appropriate and justified that I take the time to properly preserve my electronics. Seeing as how it was the ENTIRE reason why I'm late and totally not because I spent too much time sorting marshmallow cereal. I stumble over to the side of the path while I wipe my screen using my sleeve (which only smears it around redundantly). I sigh and shake my sleeve as if it would help to free the water from it. The thick fog around me swirls brilliantly with my movement, it sorta reminds me of those movies where just as the fog settles their met with a horrible sight. Those movies are so unrealist- HOLY SHIT. I whimper as the shape of a silhouette forms in-front of my eyes."Sorry. Didn't mean to scare you." A smooth articulate voice chimed. My eyes widened, still glued on the spot where the voice established itself. As the fog settled and the woodsy sounds seemed to quiet, the face of the silhouette became more clear. A set of electric olive green eyes shown themselves proudly through the surrounding haze. I felt my throat tighten with the permission of my hands, who were tugging at the hem of my shirt. My music still blared through the silence, refusing to take a hint.
"U-ugh it's okay." My voice wavered as I squeaked out the only sentence I could think of that made sense. I fumbled around with my phone for a few seconds until I finally got the music to stop and pulled out my earbuds.
"I'm Frank." He smiled. I stared at him bewildered and still entranced by those brilliant eyes of his.
"Uh- Oh, Gerard." I strangled out slowly. He inched closer, watching amusedly as the fog around him swirled like ribbons. I could now see he was what looked to be pretty punk, and absolutely COVERED in tattoos. Wait. Wait,
What's that? Am I stepping in something wet? Oh- yeah, my heart liquids. Ew. It's warm. That's not right I'm supposed to be a vampire, at least that's what everyone else says."Gerard?" Frank chimed, effectively interrupting my lovely vampire daydream.
"S-sorry. What?" Nice going Gerard, tripping over your own words. Great. Then you're just gonna fall in your heart liquids. Ugh. That'd be so embarrassing. Frank is really pretty. I mean- what?
"I said, you know that school got canceled because of the rain. Right?" He chuckled, looking down at my pale and soggy self.
"...No" I muttered insensibly.
"Wait, how did you know I was going to school?I inquired. I knew I definitely hadn't seen him along this path before, nor at school. Then again, it could be because I'm so easily distracted by butterflies, or other flora and whatnot. Also because I pay attention so little in school that I couldn't tell you the name of any of my teachers off the top of my head. They all go by various- accurate nicknames. You'll learn those soon enough though.
"Well I sort of figured since you look like you're in high school, and the building is just down the road." He explained, flashing a bright smile.
"Oh. Huh. well that makes sense." I shrugged. He nodded, stuffing his hands in the pockets of his skinny jeans.
"Wait, do we go to school together or something?" I asked confusedly. If he knew where the school was, it would make sense that he went to it right? And why else would he be in the woods at like 7 am?
"Well, no I don't" he paused to chuckle.
"Okay I know this sounds weird just let me explain myself." He laughed and smiled awkwardly. He moved slightly closer to me, resting his hand on a tree, probably to seem a little more casual.
"I don't go to school with you because I've already graduated, that's why I know where the school is. And I'm out here because I just moved in with my roommate Bob about a week ago. Oh- I saw a bunny. That's also why I'm in the woods haha." He laughed. I quickly noticed how Frank was clearly a fan of using large hand gestures, I found it quite amusing. He looked like a punk orchestra conductor, which made me laugh.
"Oh! Mikey said something about that Bob guy getting a new roommate." I mumbled to myself, shifting my feet in the mushy leaves.
"Oh cool! you know Mikey?" He asked, again with the loud hand gestures. He grinned in a friendly manner, while moving closer to me again, clearing tree branches that kept hitting him on his way. I giggled.
"Oh I know Mikey alright. He's my brother." I smirked. Frank seemed to have a moment of revelation, at least that's what I assumed it was since his mouth was hanging open.
"Ohhh! You're Mikey's brother! I was wondering when I'd get to meet you, if ever." He mused, gazing at me with sparkling eyes. The type you have when you learn something new and exciting. He sure seemed chipper and charming. Just the kind of guy I could never have. I smiled slightly and shrugged.
"Well, here I am" I chuckled and gestured to myself.
"There you are" he laughed and brushed his ebony hair away from his eyes. He looked at me with a sweet smile gracing his lips. I stared back at him idly and studied his features. He had a very drawable face, symmetrical and defined. Bright doe eyes and soft looking lips. If was unfair how nature had gifted him.
"Hey um, do you maybe wanna come in? Bob is at Ray's right now for a party or something and well, you're a little soggy." He giggled, and looked at the pile of marinating sadness that is me.
"Don't question my sogg'" I retorted, feigning offense.
Frank, for a mere few seconds tipped his head at me in confusion mimicking a confused puppy, brows furrowed and all. However, a moment later a visible realization occurred, as a huge dumb grin plastered across his lively face, and a bout of cackling laughter erupted from him. This is the best outcome you can get with my humor. Believe it or not I once got a dudes face permanently stuck in a confused expression, totally true I swear. Definitely didn't see it on a Family Guy episode.
Once Frank had finished his mini aneurism, he stumbled closer to me, grinning dumbly.
"Come on." He laughed, taking my pale hand in his.Hey guys! Author here. I literally haven't updated this story in like two years lol. But here's a new update. I hope I will actually update this more often in the future, but who knows lol. If you are reading, thank you!
