*LORIA*
The rest of the day passed like a blur, and before I knew it, I was in the school's parking lot, walking towards my brother's red Chevy.
I've always found it quite unfair that my elder twin brothers both have their own cars at the age of eighteen. I always insisted that it would be more convenient if they shared a single car and gave me the other one instead since they both go to the same college after all. But they will hear none of it. They used the short distance between their school and mine and my being their "baby sister" as an excuse to deprive me of the right to drive myself to and fro. They said it was easier to "keep an eye" on me that way. To my contempt, our parents actually agreed. They all treat me like a four year old and it's honestly annoying.
"Hey there little sister," Dylan greeted me jovially, pushing himself off the hood of his car. He reached out a hand to rumple my hair but I saw it coming and ducked in time, slapping his hand away before he could do any damage.
"Don't you dare," I warned.
He laughed.
"Where's Nate?"
Between the two of them, it was usually Nataniel who picks me up. Now is obviously not the case however.
"Ah. You wound me," Dylan said, clutching his chest dramatically. "You are graced by my valuable presence yet you stand there longing for the company of a less gorgeous being than I."
Rolling my eyes, I walked past him to open the door to the passenger seat. I climbed in and carelessly tossed my bag into the backseat before buckling my seatbelt.
"My bad, thou art a humorless lady," Dylan declared solemnly, still in character as he hopped into the driver's side next to me and started the car.
I groaned. "And you wonder why I'd rather have Nate pick me up."
He chuckled.
"Oh please," he said as he wheeled the car out of the school. "Nate is boring."
"Well at least he doesn't have a terrible and annoying sense of humor," I scoffed.
"I am offended."
"I'm glad."
"How can you be so rude?"
"I'm normally not when I'm around less egotistical individuals."
"I'm just being honest."
"There's a thick line between honesty and narcissism."
"I'm not a narcissist. I'm just awesome."
"Anyone ever told you that taking compliments from yourself is a sign of the aforesaid mental condition?"
"Everyone needs a regular dose of self compliments."
"Well you're definitely overdosed."
There was a brief pause before Dylan burst out laughing. "Fine. You win."
I smirked at him. "I always do."
He snorted.
"Nate's not feeling well. He asked me to pick you up."
"Is he alright?," I asked, concerned.
"Yeah. Just headache. That bloke's gonna be fine after a heavy dose of aspirin."
I gave him a look. "How do you know that?"
He turned to give me a sideways glance and winked.
