*LORIA*

The school bell rang as soon as I skidded into the doorway of my first period class.

Silently thanking the gods that Mr. Daniels hadn't arrived yet, I briskly made my way to my usual seat and dropped my bag on the floor before plopping down.

I expected Sapphire to say something like she usually does whenever I manage to walk into first period seconds before being late, but surprisingly, she didn't.

Intrigued, I turned sideways to face her, but instead of Sapphire, I found myself staring at Rion whose metallic eyes were already on me.

Shit.

"Err, hi?," I said awkwardly before mentally cursing myself at realizing how stupid I sounded.

He just gave me a small smile before looking away from me as the door opened and Mr. Daniels walked in.

Where the hell was Sapphire?

I turned to scan the whole room in desperate search of her but she was nowhere to be seen.

I groaned.

I'm going to kill her for leaving the desk next to me available for Rion's taking.

As Mr. Daniels started discussing the day's topic, I found myself sneaking glances at Rion who had his eyes trained in front. He was looking at Mr. Daniels intently in an assessing sort of way. It reminded me of the look teachers give us when evaluating us during individual class reports.

As I continued to stare at him, the image of the cloaked figure disappearing in the darkness came back to me.

Could it be possible that he and his other inhuman looking friends have something to do with what happened last night?

But why would they want to kill me? I thought.

Because only you can see what really look like and they know it. A small voice replied inside my mind.

I felt fear slowly work its way through my senses as I started to consider the idea.

Oh god. What if it's really them?

What if this is like one of those fiction movies where the main protagonist sees something she shouldn't and gets hunted down for it?

What if Rion and his friends are actually in some sort of alien mission and they placed everyone under a spell so that no one would see what they really looked like and therefore suspect them and their evil intentions but the spell didn't work on me because I'm some sort of Divergent or something so now they're plotting to kill me before I start telling other people and ruin their plans?

Omygod. It's highly possible.

To my horror, I realized that I was still staring at Rion. At some point, he must've noticed and was now staring back at me with those strange silver eyes of his.

I quickly looked away.

I spent the rest of the period trying to focus on the class discussion and failing repeatedly. I kept glancing at my watch, eager for the period to be over already and to finally have the chance to get away from Rion.

When the school bell rang, I quickly gathered my stuff and jumped out of my seat, almost knocking the chair over in my haste.

However, before I could reach the door, Rion blocked my way.

I cursed silently.

"Loria, can I talk to you for a second?"

"No. I'm in a hurry," I said quickly, walking past him.
