*LORIA*

"Jesus Lor, you look terrible," Dylan told me the next morning as I plopped down on the chair opposite him and Nate and started eating my bowl of cereals.

"Did you even sleep?," he added, scowling.

No. How could I when somebody tried to kill me last night? I wanted to snap at him.

"I stayed up late doing homework," I lied instead.

After my attacker was gone, I sat on my bed and forced myself to calm down as I weighed the idea of waking the whole house up to tell them about what happened. It was a failed attempt, but it was clear that whoever did it wanted to kill me. However, I didn't think anyone would believe me if I told them that someone tried to strangle me in my sleep and stabbed at me with a dagger which missed me by inches before teleporting out of my room. Eventually, I decided to go back to sleep. However, instead of falling asleep, I ended up tossing and turning in my bed til dawn in fear that the cloaked figure will come back and try to kill me again the moment I closed my eyes.

"You're lying," I heard Nate say.

I looked up and saw the both of them staring at me.

My brothers were twins but they didn't look anything alike. Dylan had inherited our mother's chestnut hair and deep sea green eyes while Nataniel had our father's blonde hair and storm gray eyes. Both of those eyes were now narrowed at me from across the table as my brothers stared at me with unconvinced looks on their faces.

"What?"

"You're lying," Nate repeated quietly.

I shifted nervously on my seat. Just as I was about to open my mouth to make a reply, Dad descended the stairs and walked over to the dining table, already in his office clothes.

"Hey princess," he greeted as he leaned down to brush a swift kiss on my forehead.

"Morning Dad," I mumbled back.

"Want some cereal Dad?," Dylan offered.

Dad chuckled lightly. "Thanks son, but I have to go."

"Already?," Mom inquired as she emerged from the kitchen.

"Uhuh. Emergency," he replied, planting a kiss on Mom's cheek.

Mom gave him a sardonic look.

Dad laughed. "I'll grab something to eat on my way."

"Okay then," Mom said, resigned.

"I'll see you later," Dad said before giving her another peck on the lips.

He then rounded the table to give Nate and Dylan simultaneous shoulder pats. "Look after your sister."

"Dad, I'm not a kid anymore."

"Well? You still are to the inhabitants of this household so you absolutely have no choice."

I groaned at that, earning a small chuckle from him.

"I have to go."

"Bye Dad."

A few seconds later, we heard the click of the front door as it opened and closed behind him.

"Aren't you three going yet?," Mom asked, turning to us as the sound of Dad's car pulling out of the driveway became audible.

I looked down at my watch and saw that I still had twenty minutes. Nevertheless, I quickly shovelled the remaining cereal on my bowl to my mouth before rising from my seat.
