I managed to get some alone time outside on the patio, however it was interrupted by Jamal. I honestly didn't mind since he never pressured me so his company was welcomed. He joined me on the bench and listened to me singing. After I finished my second song I stopped since I figured he wanted to talk.
"Do you remember the first time I heard you sing?" He asked chuckling;
"You wouldn't leave me alone, I had to sing three different songs and you begged me to do a forth" I said cringing at the memory of it, I would never admit that I was flattered by his behavior.
"I swore that you wanted to rip my damn head off, but you did sing the forth, lucky for you Monique came in and saved you before I could ask for one more," he said laughing his ass off;
All I did was shake my head at him, I swear he is the stupidest person I know. After that he stayed and kept me company for a while just joking around, not once did he mentioned anything about what happened between Monique and I.
After a while I could tell that there was something on his mind; "please don't tell me that I'm in for another lecture because two is enough for me," I said sighing.
"It's nothing like that Sam, it's just that I feel like this weekend turned out to be a stressful one for you. You know I love your sister and I know that she wants you to be happy but sometimes I don't agree with her methods. I don't think that she should pressure you, let you make your own decisions in your own time."I gave him a small smile showing my gratitude.
"So while it hurts me to see Monique in any sort of pain, I think that she needs to fix things on her own; because as much as she is hurting right now I know you are too and you're like a sister to me." He said giving me a hug. I accepted the warmth easily, what made me like Jamal so much is the fact that he is a fair person.
"Well this would have to be settled another time since I'm gonna hit the road in a few; as a matter of fact I think that I should start packing. "
"Your not gonna at least stay for lunch?" He asked looking worried, I'm guessing because of Monique's reaction.
"Nah I'm good, besides I have a lot of stuff to do so I don't mind picking up something on the way."
Jamal wasn't having it at all, "Come on Sam, at least stay for lunch please, we both know that the next time that anyone will see you is when you go on vacation and that's still two weeks from now and I've got a feeling that you'll try your best to make the visit as short as possible. "
He was right, but I still didn't want to stay, "Aren't your folks in; I mean don't you wanna spend time with them?"
"They had to fly out last night when you were asleep because they had some business to take care of, so you don't have to worry about that." He said giving me a knowing look. I knew that he would go on until he got his was so I didn't bother wasting my time arguing with him. Sometimes he reminded me a lot of Monique, both were unbearably annoying.
Sighing, I simply got up off the bench without another word, "I'm gonna take that as a yes then," he said chuckling.
"And as soon as lunch is over I'm out of here, " I said and with that I was headed upstairs. When I got to my room I grabbed my carry on and began to pack my stuff. Halfway through my task I heard a knock from the door, not bothering to turn around I simply told the person to come in knowing full well that it would be my sister.
"Can we talk or are you busy?" she asked,
"No you can come, I'm just packing up my stuff because I think that I'm gonna head out early this time around," I said, knowing full well that she wouldn't like my reply.
