Sorry if this is a bit… off… I was too lazy to read in detail what previously happened, since I forgot a vast majority of the events

We sat across from one another in the hallway, half sunken into the cold tile floor. I sat there on my knees, offering a pathetic half smile as I watched the girl in front of me. Her eyes were puffy and red as tears streamed down her face. Her blonde hair stuck to her skin she her clothes hung sloppily from her body. She smiled, though. It was a pained smile, one that caused your soul to ache when you saw it.

I clenched my hands into fists. What do I do? What do I do? I couldn’t think of anything to say and comforting definitely was not my strong suit. So how? How do I get her to stop crying?

On a whim I lunged forwards, my arms wrapping over the smaller girl and pressing her head against my chest. My chin rested on the top of her head, her hair bow falling to the floor as I did so.

“Rin, it’s okay.” I said almost rhythmically, as if singing a calming tune to a child. “I know you don’t love me like that.. I know you love Len. You don’t have to pretend that it doesn’t bother you. Things can go back to the way they were.”

“I…” She moaned through weeps. I could feel her thin, frail arms wrap themselves around my back, clenching the fabric of my shirt in fistfuls.

“It’s okay…” I repeated, slower than before.

“No, it’s not.” She cried, “I… I know it’ll never work out with Len… I knew that from the start and yet…” She began to sob again, louder than before.

“Shhh, it’s okay. Breathe, just breathe.”

“So… I… I want to…” She exhaled, waiting a moment for her throat to loosen. “I think I… I think I want to give it a shot…”

“Give what a shot?” I asked.

There was a long, dreadful silence filled with soft whimpers.

“…Us…” She finally muttered into my shirt and I could feel my chest tighten.

I peeled Rin off of me, holding her at the shoulders as I peered into her eyes. “You… you mean it?”

She nodded, her eyes looking at her lap. “I want to… give it a shot. I love you, Neru, and I don’t want to loose you.”

A smile caused the edges of my lips to turn upwards into a grin. Not a second went by before I smashed my lips onto hers. Rin didn’t move. She didn’t jolt back or add to the moment, she just sat there, silently melting and sobbing into the kiss.

I pulled away after a minute, attempting to lock eyes with the blonde. “Can I… take you out? On a… a date?”

The words got caught in my throat as I tried to spoke. Heat rose to my cheeks, but I kept my eyes locked on Rin’s adorable crying face.

Rin looked up, a half smile on her face, “sure.”

I beamed, “thank you. Thank you. It’ll be the best date you’ve ever had, okay? It’ll be amazing. Better than any date Len could of ever taken you on.”

“It better be.” She mumbled, staring up at me. At that moment Rin did something completely and entirely unexpected. She leaned forwards, eyes wide open, and tilted her head ever so slightly to the right. She pressed her soft pink lips to mine, our mouth connecting like puzzle pieces.

I couldn’t believe this. Never in a million years did I think this would happen. Sure, I imagined it. But for Rin to.. to kiss me? What… what is this?

In a daze, my eyes closed and I deepened the kiss.

Now to plan the perfect date.
