The Infected

Chapter 9

Rose's P. O. V

I put my hands up calmly.

"I'm okay with the gun on me but I'm not leaving until I talk to your leader," I said calmly.

"What is going on here?" Said a voice from within the shadows.

"Laurence, you have to let her in, she has very useful information," Gene said. The boy named Laurence walked out of the shadows. He had slicked up hair, and light skin. Two scars were placed on his cheeks. He looked pretty tough.

"What's your name," He asked me.

"The names Rose, Rose DragonClaw," I said still calm. He looked at me.

"I'll talk to you but the gun is gonna stay on you, and don't think I won't shoot." He said. Gene was about to protest but I stopped him.

"That's fine with me, just trying to be careful. I would have done the same thing" I said. The masked me and handcuffed me. They brought me to some weird room with one hanging light. It looked like one of those rooms in cop shows where they interrogate you.

"So what's so important?" The man said.

"Well you see I have info about how those things work," I said. He looked at me shocked.

"How?" He asked. Gene put an arm on his shoulder.

"This is gonna be a weird one," Gene said to him.

"I don't have all the information but I have a lot, all thanks to my demon, Jacob," I said.

"There are demons too?" He muttered under his breath. I looked at him with a confused look.

"What do you mean there are demons too?" I asked curiously.

"That is not of importance right now. How did your so-called demon help" He said.

"He has a name you know, anyway, demons can possess things so.," I explained the whole thing I told Gene yesterday. I reached into my bag and pulled out my messy notebook and placed it onto the table. Laurence went to reach for it but I snapped his hand away and took it out of his reach.

"I have a few rules and requirements before you get to look at it," I said. He rolled his eyes.

"What are they"

"Well, every time you want to look at this I must be in the room. I will keep it in my care. And I want to live here." I said.

"What if you're lying and there is nothing useful in this book? What if your working for Electra?" He said.

"Who the fuck is Electra?" I asked sounding weird when I said the name. He gave me a super confused look.

"You know the guy that leads the infected?" He said. I started bursting out into laughter.

"That's his name?" I said then continued to laugh.

"What don't you call him that?" He asked. I calmed down and wiped a tear from my eye.

"No I call him Ugly Rat," I said. "Anyway, that's not the point, you're just going to have to trust me," I said with seriousness in my voice. Gene whispered something in his ear and Laurence scratched his chin.

"Well, I guess I'll trust you." He said and he put down the gun. "We will talk about what you found later with Joel. He is our head of information. Welcome to the group." He said extending his arm. I reached out and shook it.

"Thank you," I said. Gene walked over to me and uncuffed me. When he was leaning down Laurence had a good view of the incident that occurred.

"Gene where did you get that?" Laurence asked referring to the things on his neck.

"What?" Gene asked I panicked and said

"I gave him that mask it really helps protect you," I said laughing nervously. When Gene uncuffed me and walked back I made a killing motion over to Laurence and mouthed. "Don't you tell him, I will kill you" He seemed to know what I said and smirked but nodded his head. He took me out of the 'interrogation room' and to a very large hall. He pressed some red button and people came flying in.

"Hello everyone. I would like to introduce you to Rose, DragonClaw our new member. She will be very helpful to everyone to treat her like family okay?" Laurence said. In the crowd, there were kids of all ages.

"Hello Rose," the younger kids said in unison. I waved my hands to them.

"Alright that's the end of the meeting, go back to your things," Laurence said and everyone walked away, some still in the room, talking amongst themselves. "Rose feel free to look around, but you must come back later tonight to look at your notes and give you the thing that helps you get inside," I said. He directed me to where I was staying. "Here, I must leave you to know." He said but I stopped him.

"Wait what about all my other things, I have more notes at my old place. He thought for a moment.

"Tomorrow I will send you and a few scavengers or others to help retrieve your stuff." He said. I nodded my head and he walked away. I went into my pocket and retrieved Jacob.
"So this is where we will be staying." He said in an annoyed tone. I took off my hoodie since it was hot and left it on my bed.

"Oh calm down you salty demon. Let's look around." I said. He rolled his eyes and muttered "whatever" I noticed he was acting a little more on edge like something was wrong but I decided to let him be. The place was amazing, people were giving me strange looks and whispering to each other, but I didn't care, for the first time in a while, I don't feel so alone. (for some reason that line reminds me of a song, but I don't know what song. Sorry continue) I was looking around and not paying attention and I bumped into someone. I was about to say sorry when they turned around I looked at them completely shocked. The tough girl looked at me angrily

"Hey watch where you-" she was about to say but she saw my face and carried on the expression I had. So did the one with the bandana. I started to cry a little.

"Elise? Iris?"
