Josh starts wringing his hands together again, standing up and starting to pace, mumbling incoherently.
Erick severely glares at Sevrin, as if trying to drill a hole through his head. "Why, in the name of Satan, would you ever think that saying something like that is a smart thing?"
I look at the three of them, my mind a swirl of confusion, as I try to process what's happening and what Sevrin could have possibly meant when he said that if our father had known about me, I would be queen instead of Cara.
"She has the right to know Erick, I mean it's the whole reason Cara sent her to the tower instead of letting you train her, and why I doubt that she's told dad yet," Josh intervenes .
"Thank you! At least one of my brothers has some common sense!" Sevrin throws his hands into the air.
"It's too late for dad to take away Cara's crown, if that's what the two of you are insinuating, " Erick explains to us. "The only way for Cara to lose the crown is if the people throw a coup. Or if she willingly passes it on to someone else of Olsen blood."
"Which she would never do," Sevrin says, "She enjoys the power too much, the fact that she can now tell all of us what to do-"
"And we chat do shit about it," Josh finished Sevrin's train of thought.
"Why does this matter?" I ask them, my eyes bouncing around to them all. "Steven didn't know about me when choosing a successor, so why should she care enough to trap me in the garden?"
Erick rolls his eyes like his annoyed with my incompetence in the subject. "Because our father is still the most powerful warlock in the city. He's the one everyone turns too, despite no longer having the crown. Every one hated the idea of Cara becoming queen. They only accepted it because I'm one of her advisors. Though her having Hope killed, did destabilize her reign for a bit there."
"Yeah, killing the peoples favored daughter of the Olsen clan, was not a smart move on her part," Josh agrees.
Sevrin moves his hands back to where his fingers are tangled into my hair, "What I don't get is why it's such a big deal to her that Scar could change things. What will it do? Daddy dear might have a different favorite? She'll get over it. We all did."
Josh gives our brother a glare. "She's scared because she thinks that once Steven finds out how powerful Scarlett might be, that he'll force her hand, and make her abdicate."
"And that would be an issue why?" I hear Sevrin ask snidly, my senses fading again, the now familiar feeling of remembrance, triggered by the words of others, taking over.
I'm standing outside of a silver car. It looks like one of those family cars, the kind with a good has mileage. I see Antonio's light brown hair sucking out of the driver side window, as he argues with someone in the passenger seat. He's then turns his head. "Come on Famine, it'll be fun. We're just gonna go to a party. What's the worst that could happen?"
I look at my idiotic best friend, my eyebrows arched, my perfectly done makeup making them seem sharper, "A lot. Tonio a lot could happen. It's a high school party for Satan's sake!"
The dude in the passenger seat gets out and walks to me. I recognize him. But he's not Joseph and Antonio is still in the car. He says in his rich deep voice, "Come on Famine. It'll be fun." He places his arm around my shoulder.
It's then that I remember his name. It's the ginger hair peeking out of his hoodie that does it. He's Lee. The player of our friend group. No wonder he wants to go to this party.
"Come on Lee, you know how I feel about parties and being around a lot of people," I shift in my feet, looking up into his jade green eyes, pleading for him to understand.
It doesn't work. He yells at Antonio, "That's it, Pestilence, open the door!"
He grabs me around my waist, slinging me overt his shoulder, like I'm a petulant child needing to go to time out, or refusing to leave the candy store. I then start pounding on his back, trying to make him put me back on the ground.
"Goddammit War! Put me on the ducking ground you asshole!" I start kicking my feet a little to try and encourage him to place me on the ground.
He smacks my ass and tells me to "Suck it up buttercup! We're gonna party and we're gonna find you someone that you can date other then Joe!"
I smack his spine really hard and yell at them, "Why can't the two of you and Georgie just accept that Joe makes me happy?"
Antonio looks at me like I've grown a second head. "Because we've seen the bruises Famine! We can't ignore that! So if we can't get you to dump him for that alone, we'll find you someone who you like more to inspire that same feeling."
I start wondering who Georgie is as Lee throws me in the back seat of the silver car, getting in behind me, buckling us both in, smacking Antonio lightly on the shoulder. "Drive man, we got her."
I groan, hitting my head on War's shoulder. "You guys are evil."
War smirks down at me, " That would be an issue why? "
I'm pulled back to reality as Sevrin punches Erick in the face and Josh yells at them both to knock it off.
I jump up and step between both of my brothers, placing a hand on their chests. "Please stop this," I plead with them. "Violence won't stop anything. Especially not this." I guess that this is about what they were taking about when I went off into my memories. "Wether either of you like it or not, Cara is queen. The only person who can truly change that, is herself. Stop trying to change the way that the last has set the future into motion."
Josh laughs. "How come the youngest one here, Hell, in the family, is the wisest of us mother fuckers?"
