Prison Island was found to be the location of multiple Chaos Emeralds. At least, that's what Rouge had told the Doctor and I. Personally, I was interested to see the place that had held me for fifty years, but the Doctor was unsure of the situation.
"I wonder if I'm pushing my luck breaking into the place a second time." the Doctor mumbled, then addressed Rouge. "How can you be sure your intelligence reports are correct? Why would the Chaos Emeralds be here on the island? Are you absolutely sure?"
Rouge smiled and shrugged. "Well, believe what you want to believe."
"Hmm. Very well. Very well." the Doctor sighed, then became serious. "Let's discuss how we are going to do this."
"In the first phase of my plan, I'll go around the island wreaking havoc and drawing the guards from their posts, clearing the way for you two to enter the compound. Then, Shadow moves in. He'll blow up the whole island by sneaking into the weapon center and setting off all the ammunition stored there with this miniature detonation device."
He tossed the said device to me, and I examined it. It sounded simple enough, so I nodded in agreement. Next I heard Rouge's side of the plan.
"Meanwhile, Rouge will proceed to the warehouse, where the Chaos Emeralds are locked away, and remove them! That's a worthy challenge for a treasure hunter such as yourself, isn't it, bat girl?" the Doctor sneered.
Rouge winked as she mock saluted.
"We will then meet up at the rendezvous point and make our escape." the Doctor finished. "We have exactly thirty minutes. If you run into trouble, you're on your own."
Rouge and I nodded in understanding.
"Let's go!" the Doctor directed as his machine strode forward, the missiles it was equipped with already prepared to launch.
We announced our arrival with a large explosion, causing an instant reaction from the military. In seconds, the air was thick with smoke, lasers, and missiles, making it unclear where we should go. I spotted the Doctor's robot for a split second, then it was lost to view.
"This way!" Rouge motioned for me to follow her.
I took one last look at the conflict in front of me, then hurried after Rouge. She led me around the building to a side that was left deserted. It was the perfect place to enter and continue on with the plan.
Just as I was about to blast through the wall, there was laughter and footsteps behind me. My body went rigged as I was hugged from behind.
"Oh Sonic, what a relief! I came here to rescue you, but you escaped all by yourself!" the girl giggled.
"Who is this? So, they think I'm Sonic, do they?" Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Rouge smirk.
I remained frozen in place, and, slowly, the girl let go. "Sonic?"
I turned slightly and got a good look at her. She was a pink hedgehog in a red dress. Probably a close friend of Sonic, if she greeted him that way.
The pink hedgehog looked from me to Rouge, then gasped as she backed away. "You're not Sonic! Who are you?!"
"None of your business!" the Doctor growled as he revealed himself behind her.
"Doctor Eggman!" she gasped and ran past him, towards the docks.
"I'll take care of her. You two, carry out your assignments!" he demanded as he fired a missile over our heads. The impact left a gaping hole in the side of the building, which Rouge and I quickly ran through.
