Friday, May 24th . . .
From the moment I was born, I aspired to do great things. My parents made sure of that. Dancing was what I lived for, ever since I was 3 years old. I was placed in a dancing class at one of the best dancing schools in London and I've loved it ever since. By the time I was 20, I had earned trophy after trophy, I loved to compete. But my dream of dancing ended when I started college. My parents, doctors Ariana and Jason Taylor, were the best parents anyone could ask for.
They would never want us to give up on our dreams but I had to. I wanted to make them proud, I wanted to go to college and get a degree so that's exactly what I did. I graduated from Oxford with honors and a degree in business. The moment I received my degree my dad practically begged me to go work at our family real estate company. The famous Taylor name was probably branded all over England. I told him I would think about it because my heart was somewhere else.
I had a secret hidden from my parents and if they found out what I was doing they would be extremely disappointed. They didn't deserve that from me, they deserved better after everything they had done for their children.
"Anastasia" Daniella said as she placed a plate of pancakes in front of me. I was sitting at the breakfast bar of our kitchen in the apartment that my parents bought us. Out of nowhere, I completely spaced out. I snapped out of my trance and looked at her. She gave me a smile and I couldn't help but smile back.
Daniella Taylor was one of a kind, even though we looked exactly alike, we were still so different. Although we were identical twins, our appearances and characteristics were nothing but different.
I was daring and outgoing. Daniella, on the other hand, was shy, sweet, tender and never saw the bad in people. She was the nicest person you could ever meet. She was born 2 minutes before me. I felt like I was to protect her, although I never had to. Our brother, Lucas, made it his job to make sure no one would ever hurt his two little sisters.
Since the moment we were born, Lucas, Daniella and I had adored each other, as if we were triplets. Nothing would ever break our bond. We were always so close, even when Lucas returned to New York to live with our grandparents so he could attend Columbia University. He graduated with a degree in architecture and then returned home to become a partner at one of the top architecture firms in the country, Cambridge.
"Hm?" I said.
"What are you thinking about? You seem so pensive" she said.
"Nothing, I was just thinking about what I'm going to tell mom and dad"
"About what? Your decision about working at the company? Or the fact that you haven't told them about what you've been up to"
"My decision"
"Ana, it's been a week since we graduated. You don't need to make a decision so fast" she said.
"Easy for you to say, you already know what you're doing with your life"
Did I fail to mention that Daniella was always so sure of herself? She always knew exactly what she wanted to do with her life. Which was graduate from Oxford and become an engineer. Both my siblings had made my parents proud, and I would be the one to let them down.
"You know they love you like crazy, right? They would never be disappointed in you" she said.
"They will be if they find out I've been dancing at a cabaret" I said as I started eating. It was burlesque and I loved it. I loved the dancing, singing and the fact that they made me the main dancer made me even more excited about what I was doing. It made me feel sexy.
