The next day, Wednesday, Marinette woke up three hours early. She sighed, for she had no idea on what to do. Tikki flew to her side.
"Marinette, you should go out on patrol. It'll clear your mind." said the little kwami. The teen nodded her head in agreement. She soon set out, scanning the city for signs of disaster. Suddenly, a dark shadow swooped from the sky.
"Ladybug, wait up!" yelled Swift, chasing the super hero. Ladybug twirled on her heel to face her, a smile plastered across her face. Swift's eyes had a certain determination that Ladybug knew all too well. "What happened last night? Between you and, er, Chat."
"Chat and I are dating now, but agreed to only let it show in our civilian selves because we're busy as it is here as heroes."
Swift's eyes sparkled. "Great! That's awesome. I was hoping I could talk to you as well." Ladybug nodded and motioned for Swift to sit down on the roof they had met on. "So, am I on your team now? It's probably not permanent, but I'll definitely be around for a while."
Ladybug was surprised to hear this, but spent little time responding. "Why wouldn't you be? Your miraculous isn't mine to return to Fu, and you were a big help yesterday. The only thing I have concerns about is how you'll return to class after your whole explosion yesterday."
Swift frowned at the idea, but Ladybug cheered her up soon after by promising she could walk to school with her. She quickly nodded in agreement, happy she had finally found somebody to be publicly friends with.

September met Marinette inside the bakery, greeting her parents as Marinette rushed to the door. "Bye maman, bye papa," she shouted as the two raced from the bakery. They arrived early, taking their seats instead of walking around the classroom. Many people glared at September, which made Marinette feel bad for her. However, as she turned to check on her friend, September looked confident. Alya and Nino walked in, taking their seats, soon followed by Adrien. She nudged Alya and whispered, "Watch this."
Nino was already standing next to Alya, so Marinette got up and sat next to Adrien. She turned to him seductively, making him turn to face her. He looked surprised, but soon copied her act. "M'lady, nice to see you once again, and must I say, in such state." What would have usually made her blush only made her giggle a bit. She drew closer to his face and continued with her whispering.
"What a naughty kitty you are. And here I thought I was supposed to be your naughty little kitty." Adrien smirked and pulled her close.
"Would you like to be? I'm free tonight," he said a little too loudly, making most of the classroom turn their way. Marinette moved her face closer, so she was now only centimeters from his lips.
"Now now, chaton. You'll only draw attention," she scolded. He ignored her, pulling her into a kiss. September had moved down to Marinette's seat, fan girling with Alya, who was too busy recording the moment to notice who it was.
As Mrs. Bustier was still sick, yesterday's akumatized substitute walked in, smirking at the couple in the first row. "Students, please find your seats. I have somebody to introduce." He motioned for September to come up front, which she bravely did. "I'm actually the legal guardian of September Montressor, here. Please introduce yourself this time instead of a reenactment of yesterday."
She nodded and continued. "My name is September Montressor. This is my cousin, Kale Ryan-"
"Mr. Ryan, to you all."
"Whatever. I'd like to apologize for yesterday. I talked it out with Adrien last night and it turns out it was a big misunderstanding."
"Yes, she got several events mixed up. It was an off day, that's it." Adrien confirmed with Marinette seated in his lap. September smiled and continued, explaining the less graphic parts of her past.
"I was born in America, but moved here when I was six. As a welcome gift, Kale gave me this." She played with her necklace as she looked directly at Marinette. This intrigued Marinette, but questions would be saved for after school. "My brother, Felix, died when I was twelve, about three years ago, in a fatal car accident. It killed my father and brother. My parents had gotten divorced shortly before we moved, which was probably the reason we moved in the first place, but she was still terribly sad. She later committed suicide, which is why I live with Kale now."
The class was in shock. The only thing that was missing was Chloe's smart comeback, which never came. The class appreciated the fact she was away on vacation, even if she bragged about going to the Caribbean for weeks before she even left.
September continued, not a tear entering her eyes. "Kale has been a huge help to our families, and despite the sudden change in living plans, he's always supported me. He guides me through the rough spots in life and encourages me further in the brightest portions. Hopefully, you'll all treat him the way he's treated me and the way he'll treat you. If you don't," she smirked, clutching the jewel on her necklace and looking up at everybody quickly. "I could-"
"-And that's enough of that!" interrupted Mr. Ryan. He looked nervous, but glanced back at the class. "Now, would you all please turn your tablets off. Yesterday, I was, er, unable to make it to class. I would like to share some information about the U.S.A., some basic history but also the many connections France has to the history of the nation of the United States of America. When the American colonies first-"
BOOM!
The students all stood up and rushed out the door. The school had recently installed akuma-safe safe rooms, which were convenient. Akuma attacks were becoming more and more common as the days went by. September grabbed Adrien and Marinette, pulling them aside. "Should we go?"
The couple exchanged a glance, then nodded. "Definitely."
