The room was silent as everybody stared Boston down. Jameer was relieved that Boston had came, but at the same time, she felt like his motives were sketchy.
"Hey erbody". Boston had a big box in his hands.
The Moms in the group gave him dirty looks, Nia and Anaya wanted to cuss him out, and the guys just gave him a quick head nod. Jameer stood there trying to read him.
"Jameer? Can we talk real quick?". Boston walked towards Jameer.
"Yeah. Its long overdue". Jameer walked to the terrace.
They sat at a table across from each other.
"I know I fucked up and said a whole lot of shit that hurt chu and my baby. But I had too much shit to deal wit when you told me. I got a basketball scholarship and I just feel like we got a lot of shit to work out". Boston was nervous about how Jameer would react.
"Lemme ask you something, I aint have nothing on my plate these past eight months?". Jameer stared him down.
"I ain't saying that, I'm saying-
"Ok. Because I had GradBash, prom, graduation, college applications, rent, car note, work, doctor's appointments, and let's not forget the baby need clothes, a crib, bottles, a pediatrician, and pampers. So don't sit here and act like I been living lavish while you was struggling. You left me out to dry Boston, when I needed you the most, you up and left me. I aint even thinking bout a relationship wit chu right now. Cause only God knows who you been fucking round wit. But chu left yo baby behind when she needed chu most. I'm so glad that I had Nia and them in my life or I would've been somewhere fucked up. Because had you had it your way, there would be no baby". Jameer let out all the emotions she had been holding back.
"I just feel like we too young to be raising a whole kid, Jameer. We both got college and careers to worry bout and a kid just gon add stress to it. Look, I was looking into some things and I found these people. Once she born they can adopt her". He slid Jameer adoption papers.
The people who wanted to adopt the baby had already signed.
"Are you fucking serious right now? You bring fucking adoption papers to my fucking baby shower? I'm not giving up my baby you dickhead! Fuck you thought this was! If I ain't make it clear before, lemme make some shit clear now, I'm keeping this baby. She is my child and I'm going to raise her, and I damn sure ain't letting you back the fuck out". Jameer chucked the papers off the terrace.
Boston dropped his head in his hands.
"Yo, you fucking up my life right now. I came here to give you an alternative option and you being a bitch!". Boston stood up.
"Get the fuck out Boston. Just leave. You ain't ever gotta worry bout seeing me or her again. Just make sure you be home when my lawyer gives you the subpoena for child support". Jameer came back into the kitchen.
Boston stood up and walked to the elevator, angrily getting on.
Jameer sat down on one of the barstools.
"Girl what did he say?". Anaya pressed.
"He wanted me to give the baby up for adoption. Man, I threw them lil adoption papers out onto the street. I carried this baby for eight months all for somebody else to take care of her? Hell no, what kind of Mother would I be?". Jameer shook her head.
"A responsible one. Jameer, you can't take care of this baby on your own. Your either gonna end up a college drop or end up flunking out". Rachele stated.
"I can't believe you're agreeing with him right now. And I'm not taking care of this baby by myself. My friends are gonna help me". Jameer spat.
"That's selfish Jameer. They have lives too, you can't just tie them down with your responsibility". Rachele reasoned.
"She isn't tying us down. We agreed to help her any way we could. This was our decision Jameer didn't even have to ask". Nia stepped up placing a hand on Jameer's belly.
"And what do five teenagers know about raising a baby? Your all kids yourself". Deedra spoke up.
"You know what, this baby shower is over. I'm sick of everybody thinking they know what's best for me. Well y'all don't. I'm gonna get my interior design degree and raise this baby even if it kills me". Jameer walked toward the elevator.
There was an awkward silence that fell over the group after Jameer left.
"I'm gonna put the gifts in the car". Roscoe sighed walking toward the gift table, Shaun followed.
"I thank y'all for coming but I guess this is over". Nia sighed.
Everybody left, silently.
"That shit made me wanna down a whole bottle of Henny". Anaya sighed packing up the food.
"Bitch I need a blunt after that". Nia shook her head.
