Nia: Adulthood

8:41 AM

After leaving the coffee house with Trey, Nia was emotionally and physically exhausted. She went home and went to sleep. Now, she was awake and getting ready to go back to the hospital. She got dressed in a hoodie and leggings. She put on some slides and grabbed her car keys, driving to the hospital.

9:11 AM

Nia walked into the waiting room. Her friends were all asleep in the chairs. Shaun was sprawled out on the floor. Nia snapped a picture quickly and posted it on her Snapchat.

"Nia I bet not be on social media wit my mouth all crusty and my hair all over the place". Anaya mumbled, her eyes still closed.

"Well I guess you'll have to wake up and see". Nia smirked.

"Trifling". Anaya sat up checking the time.

"I'mma go check on Jameer and then I'll get y'all some food". Nia went toward the elevator. 

She made it to Jameer's room and she was still asleep. But her doctor was there.

"Hey, Dr. Slader, how is she?". Nia was hopeful.

"She's nine centimeters dilated. Baby J will be coming today". 

Nia smiled. She knew Jameer would be excited about the news.

"I heard that she wanted you to sign the birth certificate, well once Baby J gets here, you'll be able to sign and get all the paperwork done". Dr. Slader smiled.

"Ok. Thank you". Nia nodded.

She walked over to where Jameer was facing and sat down.

"Jameer?". Nia shook her awake.

"Hm?". Jameer slowly opened her eyes.

"I just talked to the doctor, she said it's almost time to push". Nia brushed Jameer's hair out of her face.

"Thank God. This labor shit is above me now". 

Nia laughed.

"I'm bout to go get food, you need anything?". Nia stood up.

"Can you get me some pancakes with grape jelly?". She perked up.

"Uhm-yeah of course". Nia was grossed out by her request.

She went back downstairs and everybody was up.

"I'm bout to go to McDonald's what y'all want?". Nia huffed.

"Slide a egg McMuffin wit two hashbrowns and a large orange juice". Shaun ordered.

"Damn nigga you gon make my girl break the bank". Roscoe scolded Shaun.

"It's cool, what else?". Nia pulled up her bank app on her phone.

She had about five hundred in savings and two hundred in checking.

After Roscoe and Anaya shot out their orders, Nia used Door Dash to get the food delivered to the hospital, she couldn't risk missing the birth of Baby J.

11:53 AM

Everybody was full and had migrated to Jameer's room.

"I can't believe you ate pancakes wit grape jelly". Anaya twisted her face up at Jameer.

"Listen, I can't pick and choose what my cravings are. I just abide by Baby J's rules". Jameer rolled her eyes.
