Chapter 5

When everyone was off the bus, checked in, and in their rooms, Kayla called Julie from her room and asked her if she was scared of the large creatures. "Meh. It depends on what they look like." Then Emma's voice came on the phone, "I ain't afraid of nobody. If dey try to take my sista, Ima beat dem up! How was that? I'm working on my New York talk. " Kayla said nothing. She was going to say something but Paige cut her off. "It's great. But maybe we should practice a little more. I'm going to call Alice and see if she wants to come shopping with us after dinner. Do you guys want to come with us?" "Of course I do!" That was Emma. Julie nodded but Paige and Kayla didn't see. "I'll take that as a yes Julie." Then she hung up. Kayla flipped the TV channels on to the news channel. "Hey Paige! It says here that the people of New York have decided to hunt down the four creatures, and that they will not stop until they do. They said that the things might be a threat. This is big Paige. We are really going to have to watch where we're going. " Paige thought for a moment. Then spoke. " Look Kay, theese creatures are going to be nowhere near us. We're perfectly safe." She may have said it aloud, but in her mind, Paige wasn't so sure that they were really safe.
