In the distant future.
As darkness filled the land and fire rained down from the sky a being with scarlet red armor stood there in the rocky wasteland overlooking the destroyed area. Reaching out to it a white light appears magically bringing a scarlet red sword with an obsidian handle into his hand. Turning on a heel he's suddenly struck by a fireball which sent him flying into the ground, quickly rolling to the side he avoids the next oncoming fireball only melting off the right side of his helmet ever so slightly revealing his cold crimson-colored eye-getting back on his feet he grabs his sword dodging yet another attack.
Getting closer to his target he summons his shield taking a fiery attack head-on bashing straight into his enemy who was covered in flames effectively stunning him to the ground. As the knight raised his sword above his head he sent his blade flying down but before it could hit, the flames die out revealing a young boy with dirty blonde hair and he just freezes up. Realizing his mistake he raises his sword yet again only for the boy to easily overpower him knocking it out of his hands.
Lifting the warrior by his neck he stares at him with orange-like energy in his eyes as yet another fireball appears from the palm of his hand he smiles bringing it closer to his adversary. Reaching out his hand once more the knight summons his sword and cuts off the hand that was holding him by the neck allowing him to drop to the ground unharmed. Unfazed by the turn of events the boy looks at his hand as it turns into ashes and reforms back on as if nothing happened.
Warrior: Please I know you're still in there give up. I don't want to do this!
Boy: .....
Pointing his hand outwards a stream of fire comes out of it forcing the warrior to put his shield up in hopes of protecting himself from the flames but suddenly everything begins to come to a stop and goes black.
Kaz: (Narrating) There once was a time when everything in the world was simple. There was no bad guy, no world that needed saving and there certainly wasn't no chump-- I mean "hero" that was obligated to save it. But since I'm the one telling the story I might as well tell it from the beginning back when everything was still perfect.
Six years ago.
It was just another day in the great land of Sunny Sundan. The birds were chirping as the sun shined down on the small town named Newsham and for a moment there was nothing but silence until a loud crash could be heard from a nearby bakery and with it, a young boy by the name of Kaz Bane running away from it before he could get away a small girl with short black hair around his age blocks off his path allowing the baker to catch up.
Baker: Give back what you stole boy!
Kaz: I didn't steal a thing, old man.
Arian: Kaz just do what the man says.
Kaz: (sighs)
Reaching into his vest he grabs a little bag of flour and hands it back to the baker, turning towards the little girl he smiles.
Baker: I don't know what I would have done without your help. God bless you little Arian.
Arian: It's no trouble at all Mr. Smith.
Giving Kaz one more scowl he waves Arian goodbye before walking away, waiting until he was out of ear range Arian then turns to Kaz smiling.
Arian: How long until he realizes that the bag of flour you "returned" is actually filled with dirt and sand?
Kaz: *Takes out another bag from inside his vest*Not long enough.
As both Kaz and Arian hear the cries of the distraught baker they run off laughing into the crowd.
Ten minutes later.
Both Arian and Kaz were still laughing as they walked along the riverbank while sharing the piece of bread from earlier.
Arian: (laughs) I can't believe you made me do that.
Kaz: Like you didn't enjoy doing it besides Mr. Smith has a ton of flour I only took what I needed.
Arian: Do you even know how to bake?
Kaz: Of course not. But it can't be that difficult right?
Arian: And we probably should have grabbed more than just enough
Kaz: Last time your dad the sheriff caught me besides it's not like Mr. Smith knows where I---
Before Kaz could finish his sentence he sees both Arian's dad and his mom on the porch talking to the baker as they all look up from their conversation a frown appeared on both parents' faces.
Later that day.
After being scolded by both the sheriff and the baker Kaz's mom pulls him inside tugging onto his ear.
Disa: How many times have I told you not to steal from Mr. Smith your lucky he doesn't ban you from the bakery!
Kaz: Mom I said I was sorry.
Disa: But are you really? What would have led you to do something like this anyways?
Kaz: I was only getting what we needed for your birthday cake...its not like we have any extra spending money for it anyways.
For a moment her eyes soften and she sits on the couch rubbing her eyes together in exhaustion.
Disa: Kaz...now that your turning ten years old it's important that you know that I'm not going to live forever son. One day I'm going to have to go just like everyone else in this world it's only life but as long as I'm breathing no son of mine is going to be a thief.
Kaz: I'm sorry mom.
Disa: (Sighs) I know you are why don't you go upstairs and get washed up for dinner and we can try and make that cake .
Kaz: Really
Disa: Go to your room!
Running up the stairs Kaz runs into his room slamming the door behind him with his face covered by his pillow he screams into it.
Later that night.
Tossing and turning in his bed left to right Kaz could hear the sound of whispers surrounding him and easily picks up the smell of brimstone that seemed to plague the air of his room as the cries grew more and more intense he starts to shake only to wake up at the sound of a crash from down the stairs.
Hearing a second crash Kaz gets up out of bed slowly but surely making his way to his mom's room upon seeing no one there he walks right past it going down the steps with caution.
Reaching the bottom it takes a minute for his eyes to process the sight in front of him but as it does he sees his own mother in front of him holding up a man by his neck her eyes practically glowing a crimson red in the darkness, noticing him standing in the distance her eyes fade back to their normal light brown as she turns to him startled.
Disa: Kaz? What are you--
But before she could utter another word the man presses a button which causes an explosion to fill the house burning everything along with it.
