And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.
This, then, is how you should pray:
‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.’
Matthew 6:7-13Devotion :
1. Our Father in heaven - Abba Father, we are children of God through Jesus
2. Hallowed be your name - Praise God's holy name.
3. Your kingdom come - He is your father but at the same time he is a King. May he rule over your life. Be humble enough to accept his authority for we know for us, everything is working on our favor in God.
4. Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven: The power and might of the King may establish in your life. First in your life, then he will use you as a vessel to do his will on this earth for the nations and world.
5. Give us today our daily bread: Everyday replenishing the body, mind and soul is necessary. It means the food that satiate your body and also the living word and bread of life and anointment to refresh your spirit.
6. Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors : This statement teaches us alot of things than single meaning. 1) God has forgiven us through Jesus. 2) Forgive others as a way of expressing spiritual Fruits 3) You cant forgive the one whom you hate so love others as you love yourself 4) Forgive, you will be forgiven - Learn that you will reap what you sow.
7. Lead us not into temptation : Seek God's grace to live a life away from temptation. Temptation may lead either to covet or to take authority over your own life.
8. Deliver us from the evil one : We seek God's help to keep us away from temptation. Even though we are already filled with alot of lusts and materialistic desires. May God deliver us from the evil.
May the Kingdom, power and glory be yours forever and ever. Amen.
