Significance of Mountains and it's alternative names in the Bible

1) Mount Moriah/  Mount Zion/ Temple Mount

Then => Bounding of Isaac by Abraham

Then He said, "Take now your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you.
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭22‬:‭2‬ ‭

=> City of David

Nevertheless, David took the stronghold of *Zion*, that is, the city of David." 2 Samuel‬ ‭5:7‬

Now => Temple of God

First and second temple of God built and destroyed on this mountain.

Then Solomon began to build the house of the Lord in Jerusalem on Mount Moriah, where the Lord had appeared to David his father, at the place that David had appointed, on the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.
‭‭2 Chronicles‬ ‭3:1‬)

-> expecting third temple of God in first 3.5 yrs of tribulation period after rapture in the same place.

2) Mount Horeb / Mount Sinai

=> Moses saw burning bush

Now Moses .. led his flock to the west side of the wilderness and came to Horeb, the mountain of God. And the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush. Exodus‬ ‭3:1-2‬

=> Moses received 10 commandments

"And he gave to Moses, when he had finished speaking with him on Mount Sinai, the two tablets of the testimony, tablets of stone, written with the finger of God. Exodus‬ ‭31:18‬

3) Mount of olives/ Garden of Gethsemane

Then => Lord Jesus Christ prayed before crucifixion

Then Jesus went with them to a place called Gethsemane (Garden in the bottom of Mount of Olives), and he said to his disciples, "Sit here, while I go over there and pray. Matthew‬ ‭26:36‬

=> Lord Jesus Christ ascended to heaven from Mount olives

"And he led them out as far as Bethany (A village in the Mount of Olives), and lifting up his hands he blessed them. While he blessed them, he parted from them and was carried up into heaven." Luke‬ ‭24:50-51‬

Now => Expecting the Lord Jesus Christ's return on this mountain

And in that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, Which faces Jerusalem on the east. And the Mount of Olives shall be split in two, From east to west, Making a very large valley; Half of the mountain shall move toward the north And half of it toward the south. Zechariah‬ ‭14‬:‭4‬ ‭
