The hydrological (water) cycle:
. Water droplets evaporate into the air
. They join up with many other droplets to form a cloud
. When the cloud is full, it rains down on the earth
. This is called precipitation. It can also come down in the form of sleet, ice, hail or snow
. Then it gets a bit tricky - the water could fall straight back into the sea, into a small river or onto the ground (where it would take at least 3000 years to go back to the sea!) To keep things simple, let's say the water fell into a river
. It would travel along the river, until, many rivers later, it rejoins the sea. Then it restarts in a continuous cycle
