Harry
"What do you mean she doesn't want to see me?" I ask Ruby, trying to contain myself. I can tell Ruby is not happy to tell me so I take a deep breath and try to remain calm.
"She told me to say thank you for everything you have done but she needs to be alone. She says she doesn't know who she is anymore." Ruby says and takes a deep breath of her own. "She said she feels guilty, it may be the shock from the attack but I am not sure; you know her better than I." She says. I sigh and nod, waving my hand to dismiss her. I walk to my bedroom and fall into bed. I stare at the wall in front of me and sigh; it is the wall I share with Anna.
I know I will find it hard to sleep but I have to try. I need to get to Anna tomorrow before she closes herself off from everyone and everything. I want to make her happy again, I need to.
I groan as I wake up. I can tell by the strength of the sun that I have overslept. I quickly get dressed and run to Anna's room where Ruby is walking out with a tray of food. She locks the door and I walk up to her.
"Did she not want to eat?" I ask as I look at the spread on the tray.
"This is her breakfast tray; I just gave her the lunch tray. She had a few grapes but not much else." Ruby says as she examines the spread. "She told me not to bother with dinner as she has almost no appetite." She adds, looking up at me sadly.
"At least she ate something." I say as I look at the tray and see the few grape stems. "How did she seem?" I ask hopefully.
"At first I thought she didn't notice me, she was almost in a trance, just staring out of the window playing with the sheets of her bed slightly. She awoke though as I took the breakfast tray. She smiled slightly and said thank you before reminding me to lock the door. She was asleep when I brought her breakfast." She says.
"If only I could talk to her. Then I could tell her how all of the bad thoughts she must be having aren't true." I say.
"I think she is just processing everything and needs to do that alone." Ruby says sympathetically. I groan and rest my head on the wall next to us. "I will give her a letter if you want, I cannot promise she will read it but at least she can have your words when she is ready." Ruby suggests. I smile and nod. I go to my study and get a piece of paper. I sigh as I stare at the blank piece of paper so I decide to take the ink and go to Anna's room, or at least the door.
I sit on the floor outside her room and occasionally hear her sniffle or yawn. She must be exhausted. I would be. I sigh and decide to just write and hope for the best.
Anna, my love, I respect you enough to let you have your space but I have to tell you this; even if you don't read this I have to try.
I am in love with you. I know I have said this so many times before but you have to know that it hasn't changed, and it never will. If anything I care more for you because I know you are sensitive right now and I want to protect you.
I have no idea what you are thinking right now but you have to understand that you are loved and nothing will change that. Nothing.
Always yours
Harry
I slide the piece of paper under the door and wait, she doesn't move so after an hour I go back to my study. I rest my head on the desk until my door opens and I look up to see Ruby. I jump up and she just gives me a small sympathetic smile.
"I came with food." She says, putting a plate of food on my desk. I sigh and sit back down. "I gave her your letter but she didn't read it, she just stared at it as she went back into her trance." Ruby tells me.
"Her whole life she dedicated to serving her family, she gave up her own happiness to try and make her life a good thing for her family and they do this." I say and shake my head. I sigh angrily and look at Ruby as I get an idea. "Get me Robin." I tell her.
"The head of guards?" Ruby asks.
"Yes, him; I have an idea." I say with determination.
"May I ask what?" Ruby asks worriedly.
"She needs to know that her family loves her." I say as I move the plate of food to the side and I start writing the letters I have to.
"Her family is in the tower begging for their lives." She says. "Are you going to threaten them to tell her that they love her?" She asks. I laugh.
"They were never her family. Not truly." I say. "Just get me Robin, it will make sense." I say as I focus on writing the letter. She bows and leaves me to my planning. I just hope this works.
