Joe was pacing around the lobby when Amelia found him.
A-"Joe What are you doing" J-"..."
Joe turned around and Amelia could clearly see his tear-stained cheeks.
J-"Hey Amelia you look great" A-"You don't have to say that I can tell you don't mean it, Joe" J-"..." A-"Whats happened" J-"Nothing I'm just nervous" A-"Joe I've never seen you cry in all the years we've been together so you are definitely not crying over nerves" J-"..." A-"It's Dianne isn't it" J-"No" A-"Yeah it is don't lie" J-"Fine it is" A-"She broke things off with you didn't she" J-"Yeah" A-"I'm so sorry"
To most couples, this would be a very strange conversation to have. But for Amelia and Joe, this seemed normal as they weren't really a couple. Yes, they were getting married but they weren't in love nor had they ever loved each other. They may have thought they were in love all those years ago when they were young and naive. But I think both of them now know what the meaning of love truly is and what that looks like. True love looks like Joe and Dianne's relationship, the way they look at each other, the way their eyes always meet when they talked, the way that when they talk about each other they can't help but smile and feel warm inside, the way they don't want to live without each other. That's true love. Were they going to chuck it all away to make Amelia's parents happy and to avoid the wrath they'd get from them? Surely not.
