It was a day like no other in new-leaf, it was warm, prey was running around in the woods, on the moors and swimming in the waters near the lake and in the streams. It was sunhigh and it was also very quiet, you even could listen to the wind passing by in the skies.
This day, however, wasn't as happy as it seemed. On this day, even though there seemed to be a steady supply of prey, there were no cats to chase them, not anymore atleast.
If someone were to look around this lake about six moons ago, they would be able to see the signs of cat life. If someone were to mess with these forest, the cats living there would mess back. If someone were to cross the stale borders, cats would attack. That's not how it is now. Now it's just a mass graveyard.
I remember when it was better though, when cat's were still around. It was a happy, easier time. But then it all came crashing down. Loved ones started to disapear, their bodies even started to pop up. But what disturbs me the most were the bodies we didn't find. Not because I feared what happened to them, but because I know what happened to them. They left us for dead. From what I could gather, the other clans were not having the best time either. They had the same issues. Wheter it be dead cats or just ones that ceased to ever exist.
My clan used to be a strong, we used to have the numbers and the bonds to do anything, now there is only two of us left. Only two to carry on this legacy. Out of the twenty or so cats that we once had, its just us now. Sometimes I wonder how a medicine cat like me survived, but strong cats like our leader perished. Sometimes I wonder if it would be better if I were to have died in his place. Sometimes I think the world would be better if it were to have Skystar the Leader instead of Sparkflower the Medicine Cat.
I know I need to move on though. I need to move on from the loved ones I lost. Not just for myself but for the last one left alive, Snowdrift. Our clan used to be large and strong, tip top of the lake perhaps. Now it's in ruins. And in these ruins there are only two cats left. Two cats that didn't move on. Those cats are Snowdrift and me.
