Pigeon was sat down by what used to be the ShadowClan fresh kill pile. It was shaded and cool, unlike most other places in camp. The fresh kill pile was empty, Pigeon only ate what he hunted and didn't save anything. He didn't need to save any prey, Leaf-Bare was a long time away.
Pigeon looked over to the warriors' den, that cat from last night, Lark, was still asleep. Lark said he would be gone by sunrise, and it was decently past sunhigh by now. But Pigeon can't help but remember how exhausted he looked last night when they finally reached the camp. He looked as if he walked another tail length he would collapse, which of course he did when he reached the warriors' den. Pigeon decided that Lark would be asleep for a bit and padded outside the camp, thinking a little stroll through the forest would calm them, the once noise filled woods were now empty and silent. He gazed up at the sky,his thoughts were bitter.
Why would Starclan just leave the clans? Why would they just go quiet until there was nothing left?I've got this so far, what should I change?
Pigeon shook his head, trying to will the thoughts away. He didn't want to think about that now. Of course this wasn't the first time Pigeon had thought about this. He had nothing to distract him so his free time was mainly spent in his thoughts. In fact, his whole life was boring. He missed the excitement that other cats bring.
Pigeon scented the air, there was the ever present smell of a mouse. Pigeon crouched down, a mouse would be a nice meal for today. Pigeon's eyes skimmed among the pine trees. Within moments he found it. It was large for a mouse, had a lot of meat on its bones. Pigeon moved forwards at a slow pace, he wasn't too worried about alarming it though, it doesn't look like it could run anyways. Pigeon leaped as soon as he was within range, his paws gracefully slammed onto the mouse. He bit into its neck, swiftly killing it.
Pigeon sat down for a moment, looking at the mouse that he had just caught. His attention shifted back to the direction of camp. He thought to himself, I bet that Lark cat will be hungry when he wakes up.
~Timeskip~
Pigeon ambled into camp, a plump mouse hanging from his jaws. Looking towards the warriors' den, Pigeon decided he'd wait for Lark to wake up instead of waking him up to eat. Pigeon smirked. He was thinking for the betterment of that cat. He hadn't done that in a long time. Moons to be exact. It was nice, made him feel important to the world again.
Deciding to wait a while, Pigeon went back to his place next to the former fresh kill pile, dropping the mouse right where the fresh kill pile used to be. The sun was at its highest, the camp was now illuminated from the sunlight. Pigeon was practically basking in the heat of the sun. A gentle breeze rolled by, rippling through his fur.
Pigeon glanced over to the warriors' den, Lark has been asleep for a long while. If Pigeon hadn't known the tom was in there, he'd assume the camp was empty.
Pigeon looked down at what would have been a Freshkill Pile once, and sighed. They sat there staring for what felt like forever, before shaking the thoughts away and getting up to check on Lark. When Pigeon entered the den the tom was awake, blinking away the sleep from their eyes.
"Good evening!" Pigeon said with a smirk, Lark just rolled his eyes and sat up
"Did you catch anything?" Lark mewed "I did, wait here." Pigeon said padding out of the den to grab his mouse. Pigeon pads back into the den with the mouse in his jaws, dropping it at Larks paws "Eat." he said more harshly then he wanted
Once Lark finished the mouse, Pigeon mewed "You've been asleep all day so you're hunting next." Lark nodded and left the den as Pigeon curled up in the nest, letting his tired eyes close and fall asleep.
Pigeon opened his eyes, the warm sun filling the den blinding him. The tom padded outside the den, looking for Lark, who seemed to be hunting as Pigeon didnt see him. He walked over to the fresh-kill pile which had a lonely crow laying at the bottom, Pigeon grabbed it and padded over to what would have once been the high-branch. He sat under it and began to eat the crow.
After nearly finishing his crow he heard paw steps in the camp entrance and saw Lark padding into camp, he had a frog in his mouth and padded to Pigeon. The tom nodded to Pigeon when he saw that he saw him. Pigeon meowed, "It's quite impressive that you caught a frog on your own!".
Lark dropped the frog and meowed, "Thanks! I went hunting while you were sleeping! It did take a while though.".
The tom answered back, "Of course it did, the first one is always difficult! Sit down and enjoy it."
Lark went to sit down and mewed, "Well, I'm not that hungry so I'll just put it down here" While he had said that he had laid the frog in the fresh kill pile.
Pigeon looked at the tom and meowed, "Do you think you can live around here?"
Lark looked surprised at Pigeon and mewed, "I think I can get used to it, why?"
Pigeon didn't want to look him in the eyes so he looked at the ground and asked, "Do you want to stay here? It's been very lonely here.."
Lark looked at Pigeon and meowed, "I-I am glad that you asked actually, being alone isn't fun... I know that..." his voice now got stronger and Lark meowed, "Yes I would like to stay!"
Pigeon looked at him and meowed, "That's fantastic!" Lark started to purr and meowed while looking at the camp entrance, "So.. what now?"
Pigeon also looked at the camp entrance and said, "We try to a group of cats from the clan back together..".
