I inhale deep as the onset of a hangover hits me like a bus.
"Shit," I groan out trying to stretch my lower back, but something stops me. Something heavy and warm. I manage to peel my eyes open, ignoring the invasive rays of the sun and see a toned arm splayed across my naked chest. Going even further down, I see a brown haired head resting comfortably against my stomach. Timidly, I raise a hand and lightly tap the stranger on his shoulder. He stirs slightly, turning his head so that he faces me, before going back to sleep. A boyish face, high cheekbones, and long eyelashes greet me. Again, I try to sit up and thankfully the movement is enough to wake the sleeping man. Upon setting his gaze on me, a lazy grin adorns his full lips.
"Good morning, beautiful."
"Yeah... Good morning. "
He sits up letting the sheets pile around his waist, as he stretches his arms. I keep a cautious eye on him as I wrack my brain for any fragment of last nights event, yet all I come to is a blank.
"So... Uh... "
"Kevin,"
"Yes, Kevin. I..."
"Last night was amazing."
"I'm sure it was. But we should leave it at that and... never talk or see eachother again."
A hurt expression crosses his face.
"Are you serious? I thought we had a connection or something."
"Sure, but I'm not necessarily looking for a 'connection' right now. And trust me you don't want to be with me I'm damaged goods. So damaged in fact, that just sitting here and having this lovely conversation is tainting your pure soul. So I suggest that you leave. Like right now."
I get up from my position and throw on a shirt, while picking up his discarded clothing, placing them in his hands. He begins to dress, tousling his chocolate locks into a more "presentable" state. He buttons his shirt half way, then stops and stares into my eyes.
"Look, this is my first time doing something like this, and I-"
"Did I take your virginity?"
"No. I meant, you know, online dating. And I really hoped that when we met you would be just as amazing in person."
"I'm sorry, what?"
"Lisa, you can't tell me that after all this time you feel nothing for me," He closes the distance between us, and gingerly cradles my face. "You told me that when we met we'd become a real couple, and now you're telling me that you only wanted to sleep with me. That's not the Lisa I know."
"Maybe, that's because my name isn't Lisa."
He takes a step back, his hands falling from my body.
"What? But last night-"
"I was really drunk and I probably said whatever to get in your pants and I'm really sorry about that. Oh, and whoever this Lisa person is, tell them I'm sorry too."
"B-but,"
I walk back over to him and grab his hand. I drag him from my room and to the front door, stealthily enough as to not wake anyone. I open up the door and push him out into the hall.
"Again, I'm sorry. And I hope everything works out between you and Lisa. Bye!"
With that I shut and locked the door, resting my head against the cool mahogany surface. A bark from behind me startles me, I turn around and see Marley sitting behind me, his tongue hanging out of his mouth as he pants.
