Chapter 1: May as well be dead

As Mero was walking to Norina's house, he saw a kid on the other side of the road looking very lonely.

"She looks really sad..." said Mero quite calmly. "Maybe I should go talk to her." While Mero was talking to himself, he didn't realize three older looking guys about the same age as Mero were gathering up around the kid.

"Hey kid!" said one of the guys with a devious look. "What are you doing in the middle of the sidewalk?"

The kid didn't answer but instead looked away. "Oh! So you're going to ignore me huh?" As the guy said this, he pushed the kid to the ground and Mero reacted.

"Huh? Hey leave that kid alone!" As Mero began running over, one of the guys turned towards him. "So another one wants to play huh?" As Mero reached them, one of the guys puched him in the gut.

"Agh! The hell!" said Mero, as he fell to the ground with a mild thud cringing. But suddenly a faint voice was heard.

"Leave him alone..." said the girl, as she arose from off the ground. "What'd you say you little welp! I don't take orders from kids!" as the guy said that, he puched her in the face and she fell to the ground emotionless.

"You...bastards!" said Mero, as he arose from the ground still holding his stomach. "She's just a...little girl...how could you do that!" said Mero as he stood bravely against the guys.

"Shut up kid..." said one of the guys.

"You're really starting to piss me off..." he said with a smug look. As he said that, he elbowed Mero in the stomach then punched him in the face sending him about two feet along the ground.

"Ahh...dammit..." as Mero fell to the ground, he passed out. "That's what he gets for not minding his own business!" Just as one of the guys turned torward the girl, she was already off the ground looking at Mero, still with no emotion in her eyes.

"Now back to you." said one of guys looking at her. Just as one of the guys was walking torwards her, she looked directly into his eyes with a piercing stare and the guy stopped instantly and his face looked as if he saw a monster.

"Ahh...ahh! Get away from me!" one of the guys yelled and fell to the ground out of absolute fear. "Hey man, whats wrong? You ok dude?" said one of the other guys looking confused.

"She...she's a monster!" said the guy as he ran off. "What the hell is he talking about?" said one of the guys as he looked at her. "Hey kid! What the hell did you do to him?!" he said. As he threw his arm back to punch her, she turned towards him. "Answer me!" Just as he threw the punch she caught it with ease.

"What?! But how did-ahh!" As he started talking, she tightened her grip on his fist and started hurting his hand. "Let-let go of me dammit!" The girl let go of his fist slowly and looked at Mero. "C-Come on lets get the hell outta here!" the last two guys ran off and her eyes, still with no emotion, changed back to a darker blue as she went and stood next to Mero. "I'm sorry you got involved in this minor occurrence...my name is Tsuname but you may call me Tsuna.

As Tsuna finished introducing herself to an unconscious Mero, she held out her hand over his chest and a faint light appeared around her hand. "Shall we meet again..." as she walked away and turned a corner she was out of sight.

Just then Mero was coming to. "Ahh...Tsuna..." as Mero said these last words he blacked out. When he came to, he was in Norina's home and was lieing on the couch.

"Huh? How did I end up at Norina's?" Mero wondered. "The only thing I can remember is seeing a girl across the street and then everything went black..." as Mero was talking to himself, Norina walked in.

"Are you sure that's all you remember?" she asked in a questioning tone. "Oh Norina? How long were you there?" Mero wondered. "Long enough." she said. "But whats important right now is what happend to you?" she said looking serious and worried.

I found you passed out in the grass on my way to the store. Your pretty heavy you know?" she said in a cute tone as Mero turned a light shade of red. "Heh, heh...sorry Norina." Just then Mero thought. "Well...there is one more thing I remember."

Norina turned and looked at him and motioned for him to tell her. "I remember a girl's name...it was Tsuname...but she said she wanted to be called Tsuna."

Norina looked a little confused. "Tsuna? Doesn't ring a bell." Norina looked at Mero. "Dont look at me, I don't know who she is either."

Mero lifted his legs off the couch and onto the floor. "Well...maybe you'll see her again and recognize her." said Norina pretty encouragingly. "Yeah. Your  right Norina, that's actually good thinking!" Norina noticed Mero's odd burst of enthusiasm. "What exactly are you implying Mero?" said Norina wondering. "We're gonna go try and find her!" said Mero happily. "Well...ok then, I guess I can come too."

Norina gave a happy smile and arose from the couch. "Well Mero...we better move out before she gets too far away." Just then Mero jumped up.

"Ok, I'm all set!" Just as Mero said that they headed to the door to search for Tsuna.

As Norina opened the door Mero was stood behind her. "Something wrong Mero?" she asked a little plainly. "No...just gotta use the bathroom before we go." said Mero as he was slightly moving each leg simultaneously.

"Right...I'll be waiting outside then." said Norina calmly. After Mero was finished using the bathroom he looked into the mirror.

"*Sigh*...I hope Tsuna's ok, I tried to help but I guess I didn't really do much..." Mero looked down at his hands and realized they were glowing a cold ice-like blue.

"W-What the? What is this?" Mero raised his hand to even up with his face so he could examine it closer. "It...sorta resembles ice."

Mero hand held his hand up against the mirror. "I wonder if-" Just as Mero touched the mirror it froze into a ice. "Whoa! I didn't expect for that to happen..."

After Mero retracted his hand from the mirror his icey-blue aura slowly vanished from his hands and the ice on the mirror dissipated. "That light from my hands...it looked so famil-"

Just as Mero remembered the light from Tsuna's hands, he collapsed and passed out. As Mero was passed out, he heard a faint voice.

"Mero...Mero wake up..." Mero continued to stir in his sleep. "Mero you have to wake up, you cannot let your powers take control over you."

"T-Tsuna..." While Mero was still unconscious in the bathroom there was a knock at the door. Knock-knock-knock! "Mero! You alright in there?" Norina asked with a worried face.

Mero had recognized her voice and awoke. "Ugh...what just happend?" Just then Norina called again. "Mero? Mero! That's it, I'm coming-" Just before she charged the door, Mero opened it and caught her.

"Whoa! Norina what's the rush? And...why are your cheeks red?" Mero asked looking a tad bit surprised. "I-Its nothing! Its just...a little warm thats all." she said in a slightly annouyed tone.

"Well of you say so, but we should get going." Mero said as he let her loose from his arms. "Yeah your right...wait hold on a sec." Mero turned around. "I wanted you to see this cool anime I just started watching, its called Risenclad."

"Really? Ok, I'm always up for a new anime!" Norina went to her computer and typed it in. "See, this is the episode I'm on, you can watch this with me and if you like it you can start watching it." Norina said with a cute smile.

"I...something's not right..." Mero said with a scared look. "What's wrong Mero?" she said with a worried face. "I...I don't like anime anymore..."

The moment Mero said this Norina froze and looked at Mero with a sad look. "Well...that's ok, you can still-" Mero's eyes widened. "No...its all over, what am I supposed to look forward to now?" Norina looked as if she was about to cry. "Mero I..."

When Norina spoke a bright light eminated from Mero. "Mero!" Norina yelled. "Ahhhhhh!" Mero couldn't do a thing but yell, then suddenly he stopped and fell to the ground with a mild thud. Norina rushed to the phone and called the ambulance and waited patiently for their arrival.
