~Somewhere in the Everglades
"Ugh!... why does this "Zed" guy have to live here? It's unusual and suspicious", Amanda complained.
[Chuckles] "It's not just him who lives here Amanda. Remember, he lives with his family too! Also, they use to not live here per se, it's more of uh... temporary hideout?", Diana mentioned as they approach Zed's house.
"Huh? A hideout? From what?", Amanda asked while looking around.
"From the authorities... and mostly the bad guyz", Diana said before using the knocker.
"Hello? Is anybody home? It's me! Diana? I was just wondering if I could talk to Elena?", Diana shouting across the property.
Couple of minutes passed, and there was no response. The probability of anyone being at home was slim.
Zed's family always moved around. They can't stay at one place for a long time because of their reputation.
This family was notoriously known for the curse of the Witch Mary. They were once a normal family who used to live in the suburbs down at the northern part of California.
According to the legends of this family, each members including the parents was turned into one of the most infamous creatures ever depicted throughout history.
Famous folklore tales was an idea for Witch Mary's curse, resulting in different malignant beings.
"Looks like nobody's home. How are we gonna track Zed now?", Amanda asked Diana.
"No, it can't be! It just so happens that back then, I managed to talk to Elena, the Mother of this family and she said that they would plan on moving somewhere else every two months! It hasn't even been that long since they moved out here!", Diana explained panically.
"Wait... how do you know that? It's been what? A few decades, give or take since you last saw them", Amanda curiously asked.
"Ok, I'll tell you a little secret, but promise me you won't tell ANYONE!... especially your family and friends!", Diana demanded.
"Yeah, ofcourse!", Amanda agreed.
"I have Elena's phone number. And she and I have this... little girl talks most of the time. I just talked to her a few weeks back, and she said that it had only been one month and two weeks since they moved out here to the Everglades", Diana explained.
"Ah... wait a minute? You have her phone number? Why don't you try calling her?", Amanda realizing.
"Oh Yeah! Alright, give me a minute", Diana said as she began to feel her pants for her phone.
Diana finds her phone and immediately dials Elena's number.
"It's ringing!", Diana said excitedly.
"Oh man! It's been a long time since she and I last talked! I wonder how she's--", Diana chattered but all of a sudden, both Amanda and her started to hear the ring tone coming from the outside and near the giant tree by the entrance.
Both Diana and Amanda slowly turned their backs from the front door and looked for the tone.
As they try to stare closely from afar, they see something, dangling by the branches, and was hanging upside-down.
"What in the...?", Amanda asked as she began to feel creeped out by the figure.
"Elena?", Diana sees the woman too but she feels that something's wrong.
